Default Headed out West

So, i'm headed out west from Ohio to Tucson, AZ... i'll be bringing my 2006 STi with me...

which leads me to a quick question.... how do you AZ guys do on gas mileage? 75mph speed limit given the drag of our cars, and the short(ish) gears seems that gas mileage will plummet on the highway in comparison to Ohio's modest 60 and 65 mph speed limit.

Also, any apartment complex recommendations for the Tucson area would be greatly appreciated... i've been there ~10 or so times in the past year, but never to look @ Apartments.

Thanks again.

You probably wont see much difference in MPG. At least I didn't. I even had the JDM STi 6speed tranny in which had shorter gearing in 5th and 6th.

If you are tuned on 93 octane, be careful when driving through some of Texas along the i-40. You will see 90 octane as the highest octane there. My old car was on the Utec and it was picking up lots of knock like crazy after 5lbs of boost.

Drive safe!

Yup, and you will need a retune for AZ 91 and the extreme AZ temperatures when you get here or you'll likely detonate your car in to oblivion.

Yeah i actually found a job in Tucson, with little problem... helps being in my field... its pretty specific.

AZ doesnt have 93? i'm still on factory tune... actually i'm still stock.. lol, lots of things (as always) got in the way of modding the car (Engagements, moving out,etc...)

Not taking the route through Texas on I-40 taking the route through Kansas, Oklahoma, A wee bit of Texas and New Mexico. This is I-70.

Looks like i'll need to pick up about 8 things of Octane boost for safety sake..

If you're on your factory tune you'll be okay. No need for octane boost...

Octane booster stuff is bull**** and doesn't really work in most cases.

What do you do for a living?

You hire on at Raytheon or at Texas Instuments (I'm not even sure if they are out there anymore).

I was looking to go to Raytheon soon too, but Aerospace and Defense worries me right now...

I purchased my Sti in rhode island and drove it home to socal and did run into a few of the 90 octane stations and it really wasn't a prob. This was back in 04 though when the car was brand new. it was such a long drive.
