Use the VSS from the auto and put it into the 5 spd.

Question

soooo im doing this swap on my subaru, and things didnt go so well for me. i had to crack my tranny case and fix the jammed shift fork, many other things are going wrong for me. but im at a point now where all i need is to figure out the wiring. i have read and re-read trhis entire thread and i have a better idea of all this but i still cant even get the car to attempt to start. i also am having issues with the lights, they want to always be on, unless of course i unplug my battery. i have the wiring harness off of my AT. but i have an ecu off of the donor MT.

please, any help would be awesome. and appearantly it would help if you were to explain all of this to me as if you were talking to a two year old, because for some reason i just dont get it!!!

I would love to but I don't get time off from work. I work about 84 hours a week. Subaru work is a hobby. Unfortunitly until I am done with this job I will not have the time.

To the guy above with the 2007 and the wiring problems....I can help man. My 98 is totally different then your 07. The ecus need to be changed out but you need to get a factory wiring diagram to figure it out. The principals are similar but not the same.

Hey iluvdrt, I just moved to Denver and I really want to do a swap one of these days as well. Any chance I could come by and check your swap? I'm in the central Denver metro area. I'd love to feel the difference. Plus your car just looks sweet and I gotta meet some BG owners in the area anyway.

Did you go from Auto to the 5mt or an older 5mt to a newer one?

I know this thread is a year old but I have a few questions. Is your TCM plugged in? Do u have any idling issues with it plugged in? I have an 01 and with the tcu plugged in it idles at 2k rpm.

Also, I have a minor but really annoying problem. It hold the revs for a good second or two after I let off the gas, like when I'm changing gears. So I have to wait for the revs to fall before I can engage the next gear. Do u have any idea what this could be? I know the wiring harness is completely different than yours but any help would be appreciated

Cheers,
Conrad
