Default 2006 Impreza Sedan Speaker Install Question

Alright so right now I have the stock speakers installed in my 06 2.5i. I want to get these from Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSG1...3R.html?tp=105

I have been told the mounting depth on an 06 is 2". Since these speakers are 1 and 11/16" deep does that mean that I don't need to use spacers to install these speakers? Can I just take the stock speakers out and install these without and modification?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

make yourself some spacers for them. unfortunately the cutout diameter is a bit small for the kartboys...
Basically, the speakers are made to mount with 4 screws, your door is made to have speakers mount with 3 screws, the 'stock spacers' are actually part of the speaker basket, so good luck reusing those... you could probably get away with using a thin hdpe cutting board (rigid) for your spacers.

Amazon.com: HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) 0.25" Sheet, 12" x 24", White: Industrial & ScientificAmazon.com: HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) 0.25" Sheet, 12" x 24", White: Industrial & Scientific
that might work for you (I had to make some 3/4" spacers, which worked great, and I used a sheet of hdpe I got from them)
the 1'x2' should be enough to make 4 spacers (in case you screw up on 2)

Alright, thanks for the help with that.

I was chatting with a Crutchfield techs last night and from what he told me I get some kind of spacers with my purchase? I am guessing that I could also use them as well?

The Crutch should supply you with serviceable spacers that will fit correctly and do the job. That's why you're paying so much more than the stuff is worth, after all (j/k, btw; lots of people say they're overpriced, but warranty+support+install gear has got to be worth something, right?).

If you go the DIY route, use MDF or that HDPE cutting board (incidentally, thanks for that link, RootUsr; I'm gonna have to buy some of those to experiment with)...it's pretty easy to make your own spacers if you have a jigsaw and a bit of skill.

Alright that sounds cool.

Now how do I go about installing 5 and 1/4" speakers in the rear doors, instead of the 4" stock ones?

i just put 5.25`` speakers in the rear . i used 8 self tapping screws. pretty big ones.short but big. ...get some dual sided tape.go around the speaker hole with it about an inch width.i used that dual sided tape for a dampener.so its not metal on metal. worked good for me.

I have these in my 06 wrx and you dont need any spacers for it to fit. I had to drill a few new mounting holes because the screw placement was different.
