Oh and the 08 c6 vette is a nice platform to start from if you can't afford a zo6.

What happened to this thread btw lol when did it turn into this?

If you build a high power subaru your spending moneyˇ not to bad if you know a few people and do your own work.

lol...told you this would happen back in 2010...haha

I grew up on DSMs back in the day. Liked them plenty. Made a ton of power, but one bad engine builder ruined it all for me.

Parted it out and bought a 2 door subaru instead. I don't regret the move.

BUT...Eventhough I don't own a DSM anymore, I still go to a DSM/Evo shop up here in Rochester for all my parts needs and custom fabrication work. They laughed at me when I made 423whp on 93 pump gas on their mustang dyno. Such little power they said...I'll show them. lol

It is incredably easy to make a ton of power on an evo. Anyone that says otherwise is just dumb. The stock 4G63 (stock bottom end, stock HG, stock head) can make over 550whp on their mustang dyno. Now that is insanity for a stock block even if it is a cast block.

Most people that make the switch from subaru to Evo rarely look back. There are exceptions ex:Big Al and a few others.
It's sad, but usually the truth.

550whp that's it? LOL you can make around 1000whp with some Detroit Iron my friend. Moral is if you want a drag car your talking about the wrong car's. Don't get me wrong I'm a dsm fan also. I really miss my (csm) 2000lbs with driver and 260ish whp was no joke full weight minus bumper beam for fmic, minus spare and jack. I kept right up wit a cammed evo8 with 9 turbo. and I only had the 4g61 in it lol. Imagine that AWD with a built 4g63.

Lol. Oh you're def right. There are a ton of more suitable cars out there for the drag strip. Not many are 4 cylinders though. That's one of the reasons why i decided to make my rs purely a drag car. To prove that 4 pistons can be competitive if not quicker than a V8 or V10.

Ya it cost a lot to make a 4 banger drag car. But dont get me wrong you can still have fun in a 12-11-10 second car.

I was referring to reliability...and cost of mods to hp gained.

Of course if you have two well prepped track cars (evo or sti) it will come down to the driver on a road course.

To be honest it is all driver and very little car on a road course...

Yea And depending on how you drive toe and camber of course. I run different specs for both drag and grip.

Your 100% right, but the EVO dominates in all aspects, we can take it to the road course and at the end of the day the STi will be getting towed home with a broken motor lmfaoo

Sad to hear it took you so long to realize high hp subys are just not reliable. Keep up <400whp and they are great for the street. That being said i love my EVO IX and am never looking back.

What model EVO is comparable to the STi and what does it come stock (HP)? Are they also AWD? Why are they cheaper to make faster than the STi? Do they come in 6 speed MTX?

Dude, go Google your questions. This thread isn't here to answer those questions.

Well, from what I found, it looks like the highest class Evo comes stock at around 280+ HP, whereas the STi comes stock at 305. Not a huge difference, but what exactly is it about the Evo that makes it cheaper to mod and make faster? I googled but couldnt find much on this exact question.

Personally, I'm more of a Drag Strip guy. The nearest Drag strip is like 5 miles away. The nearest Rally track though is like 300-400 miles away, so I dont really have the luxury of enjoying that.

The EVO utilizes the 4g63 engine block which is for one cast iron, stock that motor can handle 500whp.. They have been using the same exact engine block on older Mitsubishi's for years. The EVO motor is much easier to work on as you can do cams, pistons, rods with the motor still in the car as on a Subaru you have to pull the entire motor apart, the 4g63 also has years and years of testing and making performance parts for this type of motor which the STi motor hasn't been around nearly as long, the EVO Also comes with a larger turbo stock, a better stock engine management system, a front mount intercooler ect. With a intake, exhaust, boost controller, fuel pump and tune you will have a mid-low 12 second car right off the bat. You do cams and a bigger intercooler, some injectors, hard intercooler piping and you have yourself a mid 11second car. As for a Subaru it's extremely hard to even go 11s on the stock turbo.
