He made his path *longer*, it's not like he straight lined a chicane. He also didn't reverse direction and go against the flow of traffic, so I don't see a real problem.

You can see that Hamilton isn't in the right lane to pit though. The reason you have to pit from the right hand side of the track is so you don't have an accident. You can see in the last picture the car ahead which is pitting...on the right side.

Are we talking about hammy going off when Button bunched the field? He went off to the outside there to avoid giving a bovine rectal exam, so no violation there. I'm still not really sure what happened at the next corner, or what the rules are concerning when you can pass after the safety car.

They're talking about Massa going off in the rain. Its what he does anyways, I was laughing when he was almost passing Schumacher.

as you can see in the pics... he was clearly in the wrong lane to pit. SV was not going to allow him to beat him in (that would be stupid). So instead of dropping back and entering in he cuts the track, runs through the gravel and blocks SV from a staging lane.

Anyways, it has already been said here in germany that Hami got the real warning and it's the british press saying they "both" got warned. They were like "SV was told to tone it down, while Hami was issued a formal warning".

It has also been stated that crews down the line have voiced concern (formal complaints) over Hami hugging the pit threshold and it the WET no less. If they were to snag think about the outcome. Hami would have a pretty hard time trying to beat his way through a bunch of pissed off mechs.

You're not even remembering your own points here. You are quoting me when you and I were discussing a different pit stop, the one where Hami made a late decision to enter the pit, not the one where he and SV entered at the same time.

Am I missing something? Which stop did he drive through the gravel and block SV?

My only comment on this race is that Button was blessed again with great pit tragedy, because his talent would not have won him the race. He must be the luckiest guy in F1 right now.

My post-race opinion..... I'm still unsure of what to think of Petrov. He has had some moments of brilliance, but I'm not sure if he's going to actually amount to anything. His fight with Hamilton at Sepang was great. His performance in Q1 this week without even so much as a shakedown lap after smashing a car and having it repaired was incredible. And the fact that he could go wheel to wheel with a 7 time world champion known for his wet driving, and in an arguably faster car.... that was beautiful. And overall, he went from 14th on the grid to 7th at the checkered through a combination of strategy, luck, and great driving.

I think I might be turning into a Petrov fan.... and I think after he has a few more races under his belt, he's going to be a great (or at least a decent) F1 driver.

He reminds me of Hamilton in his first year, fearless and talented I think we will see more of him unless he get waked by the Russian mob, I mean business men, who he borrowed all of this funding from.

Better to be lucky than good.

I would argue that Button's talent is part of what earned him his wins. Keeping the car on the road with slicks on in the wet in Australia was no small feat. Along with making sure his tires survived 45-50 some odd laps while running competitive times all the while. At China he put himself in a position to win again and made none of the mistakes that Hamilton made.

He is better on his tires than Hamilton, and this has proven very good for him the last few races. Saying that, I think when it gets down to dry races he's going to start falling back a bit.

But he has been lucky.

He does seem lucky, though as mentioned I think there's a lot more to it than that. More than once he has managed to make a gap then he throttles back to a conservative speed to save his tires, but he seems capable of picking of the pace when pushed.

He seems to be the opposite of Hami in terms of on track aggression.

Well I will concede he is pretty darn smooth, but anywhere outside of a rain race, his dry pace will be put to the test. And I think that both Vettel, Hami, Alonso, and even Webber or Kubica may be too much for him.

I honestly thought that was his mom for the past 2 years.

Yes, I don't care what she thinks about his crash or pass. I'm sure she's nice but who cares?

He does seem to have some talent though. He showed well in GP2 and has not embarrassed himself at the top level at all.
