Default Just purchased 02 impreza rs wondering good deal? pics

Hi everyone I am a new owner of a black 2002 impreza 2.5rs wondering if i got a good deal or not its basically all stock auto trans with 77k mileage, new tires, keyless entry, foglights, etc. The previous owner stated no mechanical problems and there are a few dings and 1 noticable scratch. Also it was in an accident from the owner before him. I test drove the car and had my friend who is a certified bmw tech at a dealership inspect the car. He stated it just needed new brakes but other than that mechanically sound. I paid 5600 for it here is a pic of it

there is a pic of the scratch right side passenger door

Sounds about right price wise. Don't be surprised if the headgaskets go on you when you get up there in mileage.

I wouldnt worry about the na motors too much... i have a 98 OBS with 180K original HG's, I never have to add oil in between changes either.

Agreed. The 2.2L NA is a nearly indestructible motor. So far I've run it 2.25 quarts low on oil and stalled it out going through really deep water. Still runs like a top. Good compression. Reliable as the day is long. Also, at 155K on the clock, I bring it to 6000RPM multiple times EVERY day. I love that car.

The 2.5 NA on the other hand... it has it's issues.

OP - We can't tell you if it's a good deal. That's for you to decide. If you ask me if it's a good deal, I'd say no, but then again, I buy these cars in parts all the time. I come across parts and cars at prices many don't. You have to be the deciding factor really. Research other similar cars in YOUR AREA and base your thoughts on that.

Enjoy the car! Bugeye's FTW!

Seems like a good deal except for:

What exactly happened in the accident? Could be no big deal or could be trouble down the road.

Im dont mean this is a rude way, But why do i see posts "just got a new car, tell me if its a good deal" when it should be "i want to buy this car can you tell me if its a good deal?" Why dont people ask if its good BEFORE they buy?

If you think it was a good deal, then be happy, but we don't second guess pricing here.
