Didn't want to start a new thread. Just curious where do you guys get your detailing supplies, specifically looking for ONR and some Claybars. I saw Ken has closed down Autowerkes for the time being so was wondering if anyone else had good alternatives.

there's a place in maple ridge that supposedly carries quite an array of semi pro gear. aside from that canadian tire (only the super grandview one from what i seen) also carries auto glym.

Hokari: The ship is docking soon? I thought you mentioned that there was one in Alberta or somewhere that they were bringing over for you... Not quite sure how they plan on bringing a car over from Alberta by ship...

Yeah, that was my thought.
Here's what I'm guessing happened:
Car was supposed to go to Alberta originally.
Car is rerouted to come here instead.
Boat comes here instead.
Truck brings it to Wolfe.

I'm guessing it was never physically in Alberta (which would explain why there is 0 km on it).

At this point, I don't care about the logistics anymore...just give me my car

Or, in the language of memes, shut up and take my money!

Bet you it's going to have at least 5km on it. It's almost never 0km.

Picked mine up at the port after tech inspection, only had a few KM on it, and DC5 back then had 7KM

You should come out this friday anyway... You don't need a Subaru to join in.

I came out early last Friday in my mom's Civic before everyone rolled in after the 'nucks game Was gonna ask what people are doing for their insurance. Got a quote and it's gonna be 3000/yr for the Subie. Considering going to CDI for the Collision coverage. Anyone using some other private company?

Used to have CDI, they were pretty painless when it came to total my DC5. ICBC on the other hand...

If that's the case, why aren't you using CDI anymore?
Sounds like they're worth my time from your experience...

So that's what happened to your DC5...was about to ask!
Sucks; hope you didn't get screwed on the return.

My '97 OBS costs about $3000 a year to insure with no discount... That's with $2,000,000 liability, collision, and comprehensive. I think I have a $300 deductible, but I can't recall exactly, plus some other things like roadside assistance and whatnot. But, that's an older car, so a new STi will likely cost more to insure. I think they charge extra for the AWD bit (not sure why), plus they look at cost of vehicle, where you live, how often you drive it, etc. I know, for example, that it's about $15 a month cheaper to insure a car in East Van than in South Surrey... It may be more or less, depending on where you live.

In any event, ask the insurance place to price it out for you with just the bare minimum of insurance, then find out exactly how much collision and comprehensive cost (with whatever deductible you want), and how much the extra liability coverage costs, then talk to BCAA or CDI or whomever and see how much they want. It might be cheaper, it might be more expensive... It really depends on what you want in terms of insurance and who you go with.

Yeah pope_face, that's the part I've already done. It's $5000 before deductions from ICBC. That's mainly due to the $2000 they want for Collision insurance
From CDI it's only a little under 800 bucks .
I've been doing some number comparisons on the other coverages (such as New Vehicle Replacement) and figuring out what exactly I'm buying from each side to get the best price. Will be calling CDI soon to confirm what they can do for me.

I was mainly just curious if anyone has experience with other companies other than CDI/ICBC. I know ShiftGear/Arthur has private insurance for his car but he never got back to me which company it was

Ah, shame to hear... Well, part of it is saving money, but the other part is how good they are in the event of an incident (knock on wood that it doesn't happen). Again, I haven't had any experience with other companies... Maybe someone else has had a claim with them.

Again, good luck on figuring it out... Unfortunately, I find insurance to be the worst kind of research to have to do for a car.

Long story short, I was making a left at an intersection with the green priority light. Some old guy ran a red and spun me in the intersection. My DC5 was boosted, so it basically meant all the IC piping was dead, the intercooler took a huge hit, the whole front clip got mangled. Airbags deployed and bam, my knee is ****ed from nailing the dash.

Not with CDI anymore, while ICBC decides what to do with my case (been a good year now), apparently the new standard is that everyone takes the hit, and in the event ur found not to be at fault, they will retroactively pay you back. So because of that, I'm at a surcharge now, and as a result CDI will no longer insure me. I don't get why it takes so long, I mean, I had a green priority, the other driver was some old guy in a benz who apparently was fine. Should be a case closed thing?

That being said, CDI was pretty easy to deal with again, they paid me for the car no probs, its the injury part I have to settle with ICBC.

Yikes, that sounds like a bad accident, DIGGY. Had no idea you were boosted on your DC5. I've seen it before when you used to chill at the Willingdon McDonalds back in 2010?
Yeah, it sounds kind of silly that they're taking so long to resolve this insurance claim. Seems pretty simple to impart the fault. That new standard sounds messed up.

Anywho, thanks for giving me confidence on CDI. I'll call em up this week and figure out my insurance.

Yeah, pope_face...This has been even more painful than pricing the car (that was actually pretty painless). I hate dealing with insurance - especially when you're being gouged so hard by ICBC.

It'd be a lot less frustrating if they just owned up in the event of a claim, but they try so hard to nickel and dime you it's amazing. I understand you're trying to run a business and all but comon, just look at DIGGY's case. That should've been settled pretty quick.

Anywho, hope I don't have to deal with any of this crap with my new Subie *knocks on wood*.

Ugh, don't even get me started on ICBC and how the assign liability... That's the main reason I can't drive my car to the meets. But, I don't want to get into it... A few of the guys here already know the story.

As for the meets... I'll be there on Friday. Exams will be over by then, so it'll be nice to get out and see everyone again.
