I know its hard to diagnose over the internet, but any ideas for tomorrow when Im gonna try and track the problem down would be helpful.
So today my car started idleing like crap and was kinda hessitant under partial throttle when going to full throttle. Check engine light came on and said P0171 which is lean fuel mixture. I had the car off for a while and tightened down the adjustment on my 50/50 BOV untill its almost full recirc. After that it pretty much went away. So tonight Im out at dinner with my wife and it starts doing it again. Under the hood I noticed the large hose that comes off the BOV down into the engine had come loose. I tried to get it back on as best I could, but I didnt have any tools so it was just kinda finger tightened on as best I could. After that Im taking it easy trying to get home. Still idleing rough. On the freeway all of a sudden the car starts kinda shaking/vibrating under throttle. Its pretty smooth just coasting along but would do it if accelerating. Then when I get off the freeway I started hearing a ticking at the stoplights. Under the hood it sounds like its comming from just to the left and under my battery. Now its idleing really really rough. Any ideas?

Large hose as in recirc hose coming off the BOV? That would be a gigantic vacuum leak and would cause rough idle and a lean condition for sure. Ticking and rough idle once put back on doesn't sound too good though...

is there a clamp on the recirc hose to the bov? Might be bennificial to take off the ic, check your hoses and if a clamp is need to put one on.

If that recirc hose came loose, it was sucking in A LOT of post MAF, pre-turbo unmetered air. This is not good at all...
Get that hose fixed immediately and hope it isn't too late. |
