Default VF48 ots map on AccessPort?

I searched this and couldnt find much info on it.. I am doing a VF48 swap into my 06 WRX in May and i was wondering since I wont be able to get a protune until a couple weeks after, if i could use one of the ots maps on the AccessPort?

If not will it just be best to stay out of boost until i get the tune? thanks

Are you using an ECBS if so just reduce the boost on the VF39 map by multiplying it by .75 this will be a 25% decrease, and will alow for the correct boost until you get it tuned!
I later found you will need to alter Turbo dynamics aswell but like they have said stay away from boost!

Altering the boost control tables will not be enough, boost is boost. So 14lbs on the VF48 will be much more air than on the TD04 causing a lean condition etc. Sadly, we don't have a map for that turbo. You can try using the VF39 maps and just run wastegate boost and do your best to stay out of boost. However, this is also not really advisable, but it will be closer than anything else. Can you get a "limp" map from your tuner? Can you not wait on installing the turbo and associated parts? It would be better to do the install and get it tuned all at once. Waiting a few weeks would not be a good idea.

Thanks all, i just used the VF39 map on it and stayed out of boost, Luckily my tune was scheduled two days later so I didnt have to leave it sitting around too long before the tune.

I have the same problem with a vf43 set up on my 07 wrx running on the vf39 map, trying my best to stay out of boost till I can get it tuned, since I hit the boost cut at 21 psi. I wish Cobb would have more ots maps for common set ups like mine

Did you drill out (w/ #57 bit) your boost pill? If you are using the one that came with either the td04 or vf43, they are too small and you will therefore overboost with the cobb map.

Thank goodness they have one for the 34, but i couldn't imagine it would be that far of a stretch for cobb to put one together for the other VF's. Of course i'm not a advanced tuner so i won't assume any longer.

Not a huge demand relative to other requests for Subaru. But, certainly you can get a custom tune from a professional for this combination for the Accessport if you like. For version 2 Accessport owners, you can also submit a request for the free Accesstuner Race tuning software and do the tuning yourself (you could start with the VF39 map), if tuning is something you are comfortable doing (and you have a good understanding of tuning fundamentals).

if that is a simple work to be done by you, why you dont just do it and post it on your website? I think it will not be a headache for you. not all of us are expert in tuning. doing such a map which is required by many (huge demand believe me) would be easy and would be so supporting for the people who are buying your AP for 500+ $!! There is no LWG map also for wrx! it is only for STI where in reality most of the people who are suffering from overboost have WRX.

is that too much to ask?!

Adding stage 3 maps for different turbos is not an easy task by any means. Any map we create for different mods has to be tuned and tested on the car in question with those exact mods on the dyno (as well as verified on street). That means finding a mechanically sound example of an older car, a car that has the exact mods that for the map we are designing, and an owner that is local to a facility in which one of our R&D calibrators work from. That is on top of all the other requests we get which have a much greater demand than stage 3 maps for older cars (where the demand is actually quite low).

That all said, you don't have to know how to tune to get a custom tune - you can take it to a professional who tunes for the Accessport and can give you a custom tune for your stage 3 mods (or any mods). You may also see improved performance with a custom tune over a generic off-the-shelf map as the tune will be tailored for your exact car (and how it responds) and your local fuel quality.

As far as LWG maps, all our WRX maps for version 2 Accessport include LWG maps except for 06-07 WRX. These are older maps that we haven't updated for a while, but we would like to in the future (no ETA at this time). Not having the LWG map is not a huge deal with these cars as you can loosen the wastegate arm on the turbo to bring boost down if you are overboosting. But, if we re-do this in the future, we will include the LWG map for convenience.
