Girlfriend lives at Patterson Park. Not that close at all, but a good excuse to head down there.

OK. Who wants to be a baller? Just checked prices at the Marriot. Rooms with a view of the track start @ $499/night. I figure if we get like 10 people in a room....

Race at VIR! Race at Laguna Seca. Race at Road America, or Road Atlanta, or Miller Motorsports, Thunderbolt, or Mosport! JUST PLEASE STOP TRYING TO TURN CITY STREETS INTO AN INTERESTING RACE!!!!!!

*sigh* I hate street circuits even more than I hate Tilke tracks
Let me revisit this previous comment.... and add this....

Are you ****ing kidding me? They put down raw asphalt LAST NIGHT with only 8 hours to cure.... and that makes up the curbing for a chicane? Seriously? Surprise surprise.... now they're cancelling practice sessions because the track isn't ready

ENOUGH WITH THE ****ING STREET CIRCUITS ALREADY!

I saw a picture of this on Leh Keen's facebook and thought it was a joke. Turns out it's real but it's also a joke, too. What a shoddy display.

Reports are that all practices have been pushed back until noon. Construction crews are still working on the track.

Man chill out. Street circuits might not be interesting to you but apparently there is a demand for them since they keep running them.

Its not a real demand, its just that they're cheap. Street circuits are fine when they spend money on them, but those "curbs" are ridiculous, they should have made them much sooner with the proper materials.

Oh, are they running it now? I was under the impression that it's still delayed! It's a gigantic cluster**** and the racing will suffer so that they can rake in money by holding an event in a population center. Maybe after Indycar's "no blocking" penalty on Pantano this week and even less room for maneuvers this week, they can run it like an intermediate HPDE session and require wave-bys for passes to be completed! Might have to since it looks like the drivers aren't going to get any practice on the new circuit!

Edit: Yup... first ALMS free practice cancelled. They'll have one 1h15m FP session before qualifying to learn the track.

Quote:
With the 12-turn, 2.4-mile Baltimore Grand Prix street circuit still under construction, the start of activities will be delayed at least four hours, according to INDYCAR VP of Competition Brian Barnhart.

"I don't expect us to get started until 12 p.m. (ET)," he told SPEED.com while inspecting the track Friday morning.

Cement barriers and fencing were still being positioned as of 9 a.m. ET, while the temporary chicanes added to the front straight, poured on Thursday, have dried a received a coat of paint.

The controversial chicanes were added to slow cars just ahead of the railroad tracks that run across the front straight.

"If they'd poured concrete to fill the tracks," Barnhart continued, "we wouldn't need the chicanes."

Even with the open-wheels and sports cars slowed by the chicanes, most teams expect cars from all series to get airborne over the railroad tracks in a similar fashion to what teams experienced at the former San Jose and Las Vegas street circuits.

The first revised schedule for the day is as follows, and sees INDYCAR forfeit only 20 minutes of running:

12:00-12:30 USF2000
12:35-1:05 Star Mazda 30 min
1:20-2:35 ALMS 75 min
2:50-3:35 Indy Lights 45 min
3:50-4:50 IndyCar 60 min
5:05-5:50 ALMS 45 min
6:05-7:00 IndyCar 55 min
The news just keeps getting more spectacular!

When will street circuit designers learn that it's a really bad idea to have a railroad crossing on a race track?

As mentioned, it was a bad idea ad San Jose and Las Vegas.
...and the St. Petersburg race from 1996-2000
...and Minneapolis in 1996-98
...and at Watkins Glen in the late 1940's.
