Good news, The car is gonna be at the paintshop by Wednesday night!! I'll do it at a shop called FixAuto where a friend of mine works. So big day of work tomorrow! because it's far from ready.
Today, I spent the day sanding down the primer with 320 grit block. Tools: black powder to see imperfections while sanding, and the block. ![]() All by hand, this is really time consuming. i still have one fender to do tomorrow. ![]() sanded vs not sanded ![]() Only the hood needs to be retouched, the rest is perfect. One thing I did wrong is the taping of the hood and rear door. I have overspray on the underside of these panels. I'll try to wash it but I might have to spray it black. ![]() Car is gonna be on the road for the weekend. ![]()

My next steps will be:
-Hood finishing work + primer again. -Sanding all over again with 500 grit block. -Sanding all over again with grey Scotchbrit pad -Scuff the bumper ready for paint. -Cleaning overspray. This has to be all done tomorrow.... My elbows hurt already ![]() |

Nice - but shouldn't you be playing softball with your free time? It's required by law here in the US, which is why every industrial league I've played on is dominated by the local FDs.

Bad news: the painting process will be delayed since LES CANADIENS DE MONTREAL won last night so there's gonna be a match 7 tomorrow night. We have to deal with it. It's a religion over here.
But the good news is that it gives me more time to get it ready. Today, I sanded all over with 320 grit , then with 500 grit block. Bit of bondo on left fender because I had an high spot I had to hammer down and fill. I still have to sand with scotchbrite tomorrow. I will paint the underside of the hood since there is primer overspray everywhere there. i tried to wash it with solvent but the paint there is so thin that it goes off instantly. It's not that bad, it's going to be cleaner that way anyways. Overspray: ![]() I did a lot of hammering on the underside of the hood there, so I had to put filler and sand it smooth . now with primer: ![]() the hood: smooth as silk. ![]() ![]() Also made a trip to the bodyshop store and went to get the papers for the car. i have to take it to the alignment too before inspection. That's it for today. |

Good news, tomorrow is paint day!
Today I did finishing touches of primer, sanding and scotchbrite. I used this gun this time. it is much more precise and fun to work with. Low pressure; 40 lbs inlet. Then, I took off all tapes and plastics to go to the body shop tomorrow. Reassembled a bit of the car again. ![]() ![]() I like the fitment. ![]() ![]() Oh and the undercarriage was scratched during the accident so I resprayed a bit of rockblocker ![]() ![]() Not the nicest but my girlfriend won't notice i bet. That's it. Oh and I found 04 side skirts to put on. 60$ with all the clips, good deal. |

Awesome job!
Last step is for you to set up a paint booth somewhere so you can do the painting yourself. i see you've got the compressor - harbor freight sells a decent hvlp which would do the job! i just did this: ![]() |

Well I will rent the paint boot at a friend's shop. It's got an oven in it also and it's brand new, for 100$... So I like the fact that the results are more guaranteed that way. |

Nice work! You must have a good friend helping you along the way with pointers and showing you how to do this the right way. This being your second time at body work and don't have any formal training...either that or your a magician lol

Beautiful work man. When i was 16 i had a porsche 924S and had a little 16 y.o. drifting accident. My dad made me do all the bodywork myself and she came out beautfully. Unfortunatly the weekend we were taking it to get painted she had an electrical fire in my driveway.. I got me into my new wagon though
! I can't wait to see the finished product! |
