Default Can anyone cut and program an Acura key?

My boss needs a key cut and programmed for an Acure MDX. His wife lost her keys and Acura is charging over 300 bucks to do a new key.

Likely it's not just a bare metal key. Dealers will no longer cut key that have a keyfob built in, or have the resistor/diode crap in the head of the key. I work at a shop, and dealers will not cut a key unless the owner of the car goes down with proof of registration.

Best bet is to have a lock smith cut it, but you might want to try and buy a blank key from Acura, if even possible.

a lot of the time the dealership wont be able to cut the key due to the new styles of keys (think new style impreza keys). they cant be cut on the same type of key cutters that most dealerships have. Also due to the price of programing equiptment, a lot of locksmiths wont be able to program the transponders. so many people are stuck having to order the key from the factory where they come already programed. it sucks.

if your boss can afford a mdx then he can afford to spend 300 on a key. chanukah was in december... tell em stop being such a jew.

And you already have a key blank?
Give me a call tomorrow. Randy. 602-604-6572 I work at Showcase Honda.
I would need to have the owner bring the vehicle and proof of ownership of course.
It might cost like 60.00 to program just to let you know.
I just need to make sure our computer can program Acura vehicles.
