Default 16" rims on a 2007 STI

I was wondering if a 16" rim would fit over the 07 STI rotors?
The reason being is that I have to put winter tires but would rather buy a 16" tire and wheels as they're are plenty of cheap rims at that size and the tires aren't as expensive either.

If not, I'll suck it up and get some 17", but if 16" are possible, that would be great!

I tried searching for this info, but can't find anything going a size down. it's all about going sizes up :P

I bet the 1/4 mile'ers would like some too.

RX-7 16"s that fit over EVO brakes w/ 20mm spacers:

RX7 16" wheels in general:

I would ask tirerack for help.

From what I know, 16's aren't going to fit an STi.

My winter 16's fit with very little clearence on an '09 WRX.

16's will NOT work on an STI with the Brambo brakes. Done. End of thread.

(If you REALLY wanted to, you could work on downgrading the brakes to something like the 4/2 pots, but I doubt you want to do that.)

Cheapy crappy Saachi's bought at Canadian Tire. 7" wide +48 offset. They're doing me fine as a "looks better than steelies" winter wheel, but I wouldn't trust them to handle rally use.

I definately do not want to downgrade on brakes, but don't want to have to invest in wheels spacers and longer studs just to be able to run 16's. I guess I'll just try and find a cheap set of 17's I can slap on. But I won't be cheaping out on the tires, that would just be plain stupid.

You might want to click on the ad in the upper left hand corner of this page. They have some $100 wheels as part of a winter package.
