Default Tell me if this makes sense

I bought an AP back in Feb, Just saved up enough to buy a catback tomorrow. I do plan on getting a invidia divorced downpipe but I want to order my catback first. Really the only reason I want to order my CB first is because I want the Apexi N1 and I cant find it anywhere but 1 shop. Kind of want to buy one before they sell out too! Question is, should I order the catback, install it and then install the dp when i can have enough saved up for it? or jus install everything all at once. Is it a pain in the ass just swapping out a dp? or is it easier swapping everything at once? Also, what map do i use for just a catback? Correct me if im wrong but i think you need a dp with a catback to tune it to stage 2. I have a 06sti.

Of course it will be less work swapping everything at once. However, replacing the downpipe after the fact only requires removing and replacing 2 bolts on the catback/downpipe flange. So, I would say it isn't that much additional work.

flash stage 1 now and then install catback. You dont need any mods for stage 1.

Sell the AP and get an opensource tune. Use the money from selling the AP to buy a downpipe.

Ridding yourself of the AP and using the money for an OpenSource tune AND downpipe is definitely the way to go.

Why is everyone against the ap? Opensource is expensive isnt it? Espically when I am going to be slowly adding parts.

Just make sure to use globs of anti-seize on the bolts if you do the catback first...I've never had luck with exhaust bolts coming apart well after they've been on the car for a bit.

The notion that an OS tune is somehow "better" than an AccessPORT tune is a little flawed. Since the stock ECU is still in control over the engine the delivery system for that calibration is not going to make one tune better than the other. Since you already have the AccessPORT and have access to all the advantages of that unit, it would be best to install a stage 1 map and drive your car. Then when time and money allow, install the downpipe and flash on the stage 2 map.
