Default HELP!! My '06 Tribeca is overheating with longer idling again!!!

Hey all, as you may recall I had issues with my '06 Tribeca overheating awhile back. After several attempts at quick remedies at the dealership (thermostat changed, flushed system, etc), the dealer found the head gasket was blown and replaced it. The overheat went away for a few months after that but recently it came back. I returned to the dealership and they now found the radiator was bad so they replaced the radiator and cap. A few weeks later, the overheat is back again at idle.

The question now is what else could be causing this? If I idle with A/C running for about 10 minutes or so, the fan kicks into high and the temp gauge starts going up past half way and goes all the way to the max if I let it. However, it doesn't always happen as I've waited in the car idling for almost an hour before with the A/C running and had no issues. What's weirder is that while overheating, revving the engine will bring the temp back down and often the overheat does not return even after continuing to idle. Does anyone know what else can be the cause of this? What other parts are involved in the cooling system that may be the culprit?

Are both fans coming on when this issue is occurring? Do they both achieve High speed?

If you rev the engine up do you hear bubbling sloshing?

Do you have access to a laser pyrometer to verify the engine is actually over heating? Could be a bad temp switch and /or bad ground circuit.

Hope this helps

Could be a failing thermostat.

when you first start the car up in the morning (or any time after letting it sit for a few hours), does the temp gauge go up any, or does it just sit there until you've let the car run for a bit. does your a/c drop off when the temp needle climbs? if you remove the fuses for the heater, does the temp gauge drop?

it's starting to sound like you have a bad temp sensor, but it's hard to pinpoint. the problem with cooling systems is that every single individual problem could end up being a symptom, or the actual problem.

UPDATE: So I brought my Tribeca in to the dealership AGAIN, and have yet ANOTHER 09 Forester loaner car (nice car by the way). Anyway, they now say it is a bad "throttle body gasket" which is causing system pressure issues and bubbles that are somehow evaporating my coolant. Apparently my coolant level was very low even though they just topped off the radiator they installed only a month ago. I have no idea what this part is exactly, but I sure hope it fixes the problem. They won't get the part in until Tuesday so I have the loaner until at least Wednesday. I hope this ends the overheat saga...
