as far as machining goes, we just used b&b machine in mesa for some heads, and they came back looking great... they were even recommended by goodspeed... the machine shop may even be able to order you some pistons too...

did you try and google at all?

^^
yep... with a custom build like that your going to be doing alot of research because there may be the chance to cross fit parts from other models....

i have already been doing some interesting reading on the ej18 just from google searching...

looks like eagle makes rods for a ej18...
http://www.turbochargers.com/store/p...oducts_id/1784

and getting some custom pistons made sounds horrifying but isn't really that big of deal... its all just math...

ya from what i read the crank and rods are the same in 2.2t motors and the 1.8. those rods are nice ive even read that some bore it to a 2.0. but the shop will let me know what i have to do.

just out of curiosity, why are you building a 1.8?

It would be cheaper to do a swap, if you are putting into an inpreza

Well, you could put a 2.0 long block under the 1.8 intake/harness/ecu and just use the 2.0 injectors and it should run fine, I'm sure some google searching will yield an answer.

Just an option.

You might be right, I know a 2.2 from a legacy does fit the 1.8 for sure though. I;m sure I have several 2.2 intakes laying around.

Also try searching on the sandrail forums, also one called "the samba" or something like that. They actually do a lot of crazy stuff with sandrails and subaru motors. I was able to get a bit of info for the several sandrail swaps that I did with subaru motors from the sandrail guys.
