2004 STI dying center diff - need to replace, need opinions

Spoke with X86brandon this evening and I'm pretty sure my center diff is on it's way out. I managed to find an old webpage (circa. 2007) from Rallispec that said a new Subaru STI RST-1219 Center LSD retails out at about $972. Does this sound about right? Has anyone ordered one of these before or something similar? Did you have a local shop perform this work for you...? if so, who was it and how much was the labor? Something else I plan on investigating is if the DCCD module itself decided to flake out, although there doesn't appear to be anything visibly wrong with it right now.
