Default Link ECU ?'s

Hi there. I'm considering the Link engine management for my 99 2.5RS. Whose dealt with this ecu. I spoke w/ Andrew at AMR and he answered a few of my questions. I just want to hear some real life stories of the ecu. Any info you can lay on me would be great. Thanks!

What would you like to know? I've had mine now for about 1 month and I love it!

I do have the occasional problem of the LINK tuning software locking up...

I've had mine for about 5 months. I love it, but I've never had my software lock up.
I just finished tuning for a new intake a few min. ago. It is sooo easy.
I would sugjest trying to get a hold of an old ECU so that you can use the plug off of it to wire up the link as a plug and play unit so that you wont have to cut into your stock harness.

i've had one in my RS for a week or so and i love it. i know 2 other RS's using them and their cars are soooo smooth! they still need tuning but they are freakin fast! i also know a guy running a WRX link and with just a turbo back and the link, his car is amazingly fast! also, getting the plug and play harness is the best thing you can do since i had a few issues and i was able to put the stock one in and limp my car home.

I loooooooove mine. Seriously i think its the best EMS for the money. It does everything you need and some.... sure pay a lot more for a TECII and not know how to tune it.

i also have a 99 2.5rs and wanted to know which engine managment to go with, the link sounds good...but i had a couple of questions....

1. does it allow you to go over 112 mph? (i heard there is a 112 mph cutoff point normally)

2. i have a 99 and the dreaded MAF problem, will this resolve that?

3. does this give me increased power or anything?

4. i plan to turbo charge my car very soon, and i know i will need a engine management system for this, will this be fine to use?

5. will i need to use a apex'i s-afc along with the link ecu for when my car is turbo charged?

6. you tune it by hooking it up to a laptop right? is it very simple to do?

7. where can i fid the best price on the link ecu?

thank you in advance to all that reply to this message, it is greatly appreciated and will become very useful to me in my quest for knowledge about my impreza. thanks again!

1. yes. i've seen certain members hit 120+
2. yes. it has a built in map.
3. yes. on a NA you can lean it out and get a little more HP. on a turbo charged car you can tune everywhere individually and you have more control than with piggybacks. you also get reliability which is hard to achieve with piggies.
4. yes. this is perfect for any forced induction.
5. no. all you need is the link and all your tuning needs will be served. this is a stand alone (ie. all it needs is itself)
6. yes. simple to tune... not really but atleast you know what you're doing unlike with a tec II where you have to pay other people to do it.
7. PM skywalker. he sells them.

link is the best stand alone for the money IMHO.

TecII is a good unit. It will do all you want PLUS more that you cannot imagine. That is the crux. MORE than you can use or imagine at this point. Plus, as a consumer, it is difficult to understand.
At your stage (going from N/A to turbo) your best bet is to try another unit, like the link. Learn that system and how to tune 1st before you even consider a more advanced/complicated system like the tecII/III.
For street use and lite track use, the link is probably your best bet.

Yes, I do have a link in my WRX.

The informations has been mega helpful! Thanks alot!

I have another question. Do you retain ABS and air conditioning? It says you do on the website, but was curious otherwise. Let me know...

Cool

Yes you do retain ABS and Air Conditioning. As the ABS is a seperate unit that works on it's own. The AC is controlled by the Link Plus.

If you have any more questions you can PM me or post here.
