I think I like the squarebacks the best because you just don't see them around as much as you do other VW's.

^^^^^^I would've suggested 245/40/17 for tires. Lots Of justification on that tire size in the wheel/tre section

The sidewall is a percent of the width, so a 40 sidewall on a 245 will be taller than a 45 sidewall on a 215 by 0.1"

I think you will need to roll the fenders. According to specs 18x8 is the biggest you can fit, doesn't mean you can't put anything bigger but you have more of a chance of it rubbing.

the better question is, why would you want to upgrade wheels and tires WITHOUT upgrading the suspension?

if you +size the wheels without lowering it, the wheel gap is even more exaggerrated
