From what Ive been told 02s never had the filter in them. I bought mine in oct 01, found that there WAS a filter in ther in 2009...full of dirt. I thought my blower motor was going bad cuz it was like being on 2 when it was on 4.

I have a Sept 01 model year...the earliest according to LIC Motorsports, and I had none. I think I read somewhere that back then it just depended on the dealer as they would install them to raise the price. I still get coupons from them to replace the filter for $67??? Kidding me? Took less than 5 min.

Mine is manufactured in early June 2001. No filter. In Hawaii we get our subarus directly from Japan. So definitely no filter.

You should just do a HID upgrades on your current setup man, it would save you a ton of money. Check out www.theretrofitsource.com for parts.

That's what I was referring to. Sorry, I was a bit unclear on that.

Eh, I'd much rather retrofit them FTW, I have a complete system from a tsx, not sure how they'd suffice. TRS is a very nice site, I know people who've used their items and loved them. Weighing my options now!

FWIW the cabin air filter was a (relatively expensive iirc) option from the factory on bug eyes. They started as a standard feature on the '04+'s.
