Me either... I would do A LOT of things to avoid running a front mount for that reason.

My question is, rebuild? Or swap to a used 2.5L ? I'm not sure where to put my money, and I do NOT want to make any rash decisions. HELP!?
Generally oil will not cause a miss, unless it fouls a sensor.
Try Rotella T6.

Does it only miss when cold/hot?

How long since plugs/fuel filter.

P201 P202 P203 P204?

With that kind of mileage, I would expect to see valves and rings be an issue. If your high compression at peak boost goes past a leaky valve you miss... If your rings are worn you eat oil.

DO a compression test. Totally fixable if you want to put in the time. I didn't I picked up an '05 long block and just dropped it in. 249,000 miles as of this morning.

If compression test is ok, check your coilpacks...

Catch can is a good idea for ANY pcv system.

2.5 is fine, but a lot of work, and can eat the 5 speed. More torque is nice. DO NOT put in a JDM motor as its a bastard to get parts for the twinscroll setups.

Thats why you dont use any kind of wire, use something heavier and it looks like it belongs on a car.

I had the plugs, wires, compression test, and a new MAF sensor done last year this month. It doesn't matter if its hot or cold, and I'm not throwing any codes. All cylinders held 150+ . I got a blinking check engine light going up a huge hill on the freeway, but as soon as I let off the throttle, it went away. Also, I just ordered the cobb xle bpv. Going to try 50/50. Also, I get lots of white smoke, partly from being catless but burning oil too. Could be a bad turbo as well?

if it blows blue smoke under load then it could be partly the turbo. a lot can change over a year, wouldnt hurt to get another comp. test. you can buy complete rebuild kits on ebay with oem parts for $599.

I am wondering if using the matte/clear dip will give a similar effect over WRB...
