one of the main reason I didn't get a Jun bumper was because it was FRP and not urethane. I do love the bumper though

sorry I cannot agree with you here. As expensive as these items are fiberglass is definitely NOT the way to go. Road conditions and other variables (not to mention shipping) is a bitch for fiberglass items. I prefer and only deal with urethanes. If it's not available I opt for FRP since it's a plastic that's reinforced with fiberglass so its flexible and won't shatter like fiberglass. Yes fiberglass is a easier to fix but FRP is stronger and flexible. Especially for an item like a bumper you want it to flex. I have waked the FRP lip and a tow truck also clamped right on it and it didn't crack.

Fiberglass is better for items that generally don't flex (i.e. trunk modification or gauge pods..etc.). This is the way I see it anyway.

Further, these frp kits aren't the same as your "street fighter" Honda kit either. Far superior in quality and fitment. I feel that you'd be repairing more than enjoying with fiberglass for a bumper or flexible item.

Yeah I've read somewhere that Urethane isn't recommended for Full bumpers because it deforms and sags or w/e and is only really good for small parts... forget who said it but I believe it was a major Japanese bodykit producer that was interviewed on JTuned back in the day (when JTuned was THE blog)

I know a friend of mine had the Aerosync urethane 350z bumper (similar to NISMO bumper) – and he shattered it by driving over a cone in an autocross in really cold weather. Urethane hardens up in cold weather apparently

I still would have got a urethane JUN bumper if they made one... someone hop on that!

Thanks a lot man! Your car is now my inspiration . I have the Lester lip... I think it'll look good when I have it on. It follows design cues from a lot of the bodykits I've really liked previously so we'll see what it likes... it's fiberglass though lol

I also like that in searching Nasioc I haven't found one example of it on a U.S. car 2001-2010. The prodrive lips have gotten crazy! At least you freshen it up with the splitters

Nice! That's a real bumper too if I'm not mistaken? Mine was the Gruppe-S replica. It fits USDM bumper beam without modification, awesome fitment, and you know... a lot cheaper when it does (and did) crack... although shipping a full bumper from Irvine was a B. I live in the city too

^ I was going to swoop on that Gruppe-S version back in the day. But I was always concerned about the fitment. Looks pretty flawless on your car. When are you planning to install the Lester front lip? It reminds me slightly of the wagon bumper actually.

Well "Urethane" is quite a broad category for the different types there are. For example. Our stock bumpers are POLYurethane and they flex but really don't sag. I see them sag because of poor mounting or lack of maintaining the factory mounting points (all of them to distribute the weight evenly). I know one that is a pain in the ass for us is the one that goes between the fender and bumper. They only use a pop rivet and that is known to sag. If you use a bolt and two washers and nut in place of it... no sagging. It's really just a pain to if you want to keep it stock looking. You could do like others and put an external connection which is a lot easier to go with but you'll have to modify accordingly you know?

If a urethane based material wasn't good for full bumpers then why is it that 98% of manufactures use a urethane based material to create them? If you're talking about ABS plastic (similar to FRP but a lot more rigid -- I believe it's urethane based) then I would agree that it isn't a good material to be used for a full bumper. It does flex but not as much as FRP but holds its shape way better. ABS plastic is used on the rare and out of production EGR kit for our cars which are Australian OEM piece.

yes a Polyurethane Jun bumper would be outstanding! Also, polyurethane bumpers cost 3x as much as a FRP, ABS or fiberglass bumper
