If you read my build thread you would understand more. I have been building and racing cars with my father for years now. We've taken 16 second cars and have made them 11 second cars. I can promise you that this will never be wrapped around a tree.

Even with padding, you are far more likely to get hurt in a good wreck WITH a full cage (without a helmet) that you would be without the cage at all..

Uh.. it isn't hating when what he is saying is completely true. Driving your daily driver with a cage is a safety issue if you ask anyone. You also need to have correct seats and properly mounted harnesses installed.

Speaking of cages here is a update on mine. Hopefully it'll be done by the end of next week ready to paint. (I have two cars, this is not a daily driver)

^^^unless it's someone's weekend track toy too. Someone big into HPDE I guess?

I'd save the cage for actual track car duties personally.

Do you have a picture of your roll cage/bar? I bet when you say to make it safer, you took out the front/driver's area bars, correct?

haha if they use their daily driver for a track car too, maybe they cant afford a race car... and should think wisely. Just because a lot of people do it and its convenient if you only have one car doesn't mean it makes sense nor is safe.

I'm a loser. I do not recommend any of you do what I do. Roll cages are 100% dumb in a DD when well done, and mine does not fall into that category. If you can't afford 2 cars don't track your only car, that is dumb...but it could be worse, you could be as dumb as me and own multiple cars yet still manage to DD things with roll cages and/or tires too big for the street. Prefer to beat all dead horses repeatedly and often.

Does anyone have pics of Gc8's with 18". I'm thinking 18 is too big. But i found some 5Zigens at a great price and i really like them.
Or at least some spec sizes on some pre-posted cars.
Thnks.

17 is the biggest I'd go, but there are a few on here like John's 2.5RS that can actually pull off the look.
