Question JDM Bugeye Bulb?

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to lighting and what not so please bear with me. I am in the process of pulling some crappy hid kit off a set of jdm bugeye headlights I bought a while back and was in need of some regular bulbs for the low-beams. I peeked inside and noticed "H7" was stamped into where the bulb goes, as seen in the picture below:

However, after searching Nasioc, all the threads I've come across in regards to this topic state the headlights use an H1 bulb. I've tried reading up on the stickies in this sub-forum and googling for an answer whether or not H1's and H7's are interchangeable, but was unable to come to any conclusion. As a result, all I'm looking for is confirmation on what bulb I am supposed to use before I drop money on what could be the wrong bulb.

Also, for my own knowledge, is there any way to tell by the physical appearance of the headlight whether it is an hid or non-hid headlight?

Thanks in advance for the input

correct. The JDM bug STI headlights (non spec C) are either H1 (non HID) or D2S (HID) with a ballast bolted on. In terms of the bulb there usually should be a stamp on the headlight around where the bulb is meant to go (usually visible from the top when mounted on the car) this would tell you what bulb it is. But yeah my AUDM STi (bug eye V7) is non HID and is H1
