They don't even know where they are going to put it yet.

It can be built in a year easy though.

Wow, apparently they have bought 800 acres east of the city and already have utilities ready to go.

I can't believe I wasted 2 minutes reading the comments at the end of that.... Some people are so stupid...

I say, build this SOB, in Austin, if for nothing else, to spite the idiots who said it was a bad idea.

the theory behind it is that we get to reap the benefits of people coming to our glorious state and spending money on all sorts of things that are taxed. Not to mention the local infusion of money into Austin, which we don't care about cause we're from Houston.

But there will be lots of money thrown around for these races, think of the parties each builder will have their own party, the fia will probably have parties, people will throw their own parties, etc. And then there's the 150k people needing to have a place to eat, sleep and rent cars.

Anyway, will it return $25mil to the state of texas? hopefully, and they're probably banking on more coming in.

Remember the infamous Janet Jackson Super Bowl halftime show in Houston? You paid for it then. The money goes towards large scale events held in Texas. NCAA Final Four is another major event that gets the money (it will be held in Houston in March). Remember the NBA All-Star game in Dallas/Arlington in February? You paid for it then! So, quit yer bitchin'.

LOL... well, I did get a good laugh or two out of some comments. The one about him designing a track shaped like Texas or a boot... that's hilarious (and possible!).

Actually, a track shaped like Texas would probably be pretty kick-ass... an assload of esses, then some hella-long straights with great overtaking brake-zones... and a mongo-sweeper for the gulf-coast (which could be a Turkey-like multi-apex corner)

Now, it'd be the laughing stock of the race-track world since it's EXACTLY what the 'Rich-Texas Oil-man' from the Simpsons would do...

It's going to have room for about 12 to be comfortable and 6 to have their own rooms. I can't wait, it's going to be a great week/weekend.
