I just tried AZScoobie's launch method on the street at a red light over lunch. INSANE! Fastest I've ever been to 30mph in my life (shut down at redline, no need to go further). Thank you, AZ!

Cool. Glad it helped. You can experiment with the rpm you let the clutch out. I use 5500 rpm or there abouts. If I go higher I just get wheel spin and I bang the limiter through first gear. 4000 I bog since this big turbo has little boost in that range. Also experiment with how hard you let the clutch out. I found that I dont need to dump. Just pull your foot straight up off of it.

Dont feel bad at all. I have raced alot in the past but this was my first time to the track in over 3yrs. My first 5 passes I couldn't even break into the 14's! I even managed to bang out a 16.00 run. I just went for the first time with the rex on saturday. Though my car only has 2,100 miles on it (stock x-cept the silencer mod) I still was dissapointed. On my 6th run I got a little better and ran a 14.61 @ 92.52 mph (my best all day). I made about 10 more passes and all were in the 14.6-14.8 range. One thing I did discover on the 7th or 8th run was my boost was all over the place. Anywhere from 7-12 psi in 1st to 10-15 psi in 3rd. That must have added to my poor times. It was very damp all day as well (on and off rain showers). Another thing was my 60' times. They were pritty bad. On my best run (listed above) I did manage a 2.091 60' with a 1/8mi of 9.382 @73.92mph but that is not too good. I am gonna try the boost monkey and get it set up before I go again. Well gotta go work on those launches.

AZscoobie - Thanks for the advice. I went to the 1/4 mile strip for my first time ever a few weekends ago. And, shall we say, I did terrible, but I had a lot of fun doing it. At present, I've got a 12 second car, but I'm just a 14 second driver. Gotta work on that! One of the guys took a video of one of my runs. Posted it on TXIC, so I downloaded it and, wow, it looks like I'm practically just sitting there at the beginning. I'm looking forward to getting back to the strip and improving my times. GoodFinder

"The only way I have ever found to get 1.7 and 1.8 60 ft times is to hold at 3000 rpm. Then floor it at the second yellow. When the tach hits 5500 rpm let the clutch go. Dont pop it. Just let your foot straight up off of it. You should not get any clutch slip. You should get some front wheelspin. Hold it WOT till 7000 and the go for second."

I bet 3-4 more runs with this launch will get your 14.0-14.2

That's the way I launch and I got a 13.93@99.78 with an HKS EVC EZ and an AEM cold air intake. My 60' 2.22 but I have posted as low as 1.919. As fear as wear on the clutch mine suffers no ill effect.

Very slow 60' time, but you are making very good power for your mods. Right at 100mph trap with just a boost controller and intake...what boost/fuel were you running?

what i'd like to know is... what gear are you guys with the 13's finishing in?? i am always debating whether or not to shift into 4th. bumping off the rev-limiter in 3rd is sooo close to the line, but the top speed of 3rd is < 100

Finishing 4th in what?

You ran 108mph....at a drag strip (i.e. not a gtech)? What was your 60' times? Most running ultra low 13s are trapping around 102. 108 is very strong for stock turbo IMO.

If the car is the stock 3000 lbs then you would need at least 350 crank hp to run 108 mph. The stock turbo cant flow 350hp. Something else has been changed, Weight, Gearing, or a leaf blew in front of the beams.

Default First results

Well, I finally managed to get some numbers for my pure STOCK WeRX.

3 passes, one 14.44, one 15.whatever ( ) and one 14.38. It was about 23-24 degrees with some decent humidity in the air.

Very happy with my first stock results, I know I can muster a 14.2 in there with good conditions, I can't even imagine what excellent conditions could give me (extra dry with 5 degrees or so... still need some traction you know ) I was afraid I'd be one of the "slower" WRXs after hearing so many different times for the stock trim; high 14's HELL NO!

guys with stock cars, post you milage on the car at the time of the run also, i have heard that these cars open up a lot with more miles. (like 170whp off the lot and 190whp at 25k).

i dont have anything to back this up other than some rumors and a dyno day at cobb where a car with cat back+ K&N @5000miles made as much whp as a stock(sti tranny+motor mounts) @20,000 miles i do think this has a lot to do with it.

Dunno if I should consider it a bad thing or a good thing, about 10 months old.
