Default Tribeca Tuning and Open Source mapping

Hello all Tribeca owners,

Has anyone ever been interested or tried tuning their N/A Tribeca? This came to mind about 2 weeks ago and I was curious enough to try.

Its actually a funny story. I tuned my buddies wrx, then his father's fxt, then his brother's N/A 2.5Rs. The only car in the driveway left was mom's Tribeca. At first it was a joke, but with decent results coming form the 2.5 and 2.5i cars, I figured it would be worth a try.

Yesterday after playing with romriader and open ecu, I was able to read a stock Tribeca's ECU image and save it on my laptop in open ecu. I have since began formulating a new Rom for the vehicle.

Some of you may have heard that these cars have complex ecu's in which adapt to environmental changes by way of active ignition and fuel mapping. Its very true. If you currently run 87-91 octane, a 93 octane tune can yield pretty significant results (as I have found with the 2.5 N/A motors).

Also with this, now roms can be catered to enviroment and gas available/used. You can modify the fuel and throttle mapping as well for smoother power delivery as well as eliminate the closed loop to open loop delays.

You can only get so much out of an N/A car, but if you switch to a higher octance and play with the rom a bit, noticeable differences can be had.

I have 2 Tribeca's to tune in the next week. Ill provide results for the community as soon as I have them

3.0. I have not had the chance to meet someone interested with a 3.6.
