As this is a non-functional scoop at this point I'm investigating whether anyone supplies a bolt in panel to replace the stock RS hood scoop.
Another age-old question: Does the stock L spoiler of the '98-'01 era use the same bolt holes as the '00 RS spoiler? Any tips on bike racks which work with the stock '00 RS wing? One more: Anyone aware of a fold-down seat kit for the 2 dr RS models? Has anyone had their rear seat modified to have a fold-down center which ski's could be put through. Thanks Matt [Basically I wouldn't use a roof rack enough to bother - and I don't like there look that much. I'd rather go to a lower spoiler and put a bike rack on the trunk temporarily - and my Bones rack won't go over or under the '00 RS spoiler. I've been taking the seat back out when I need to drive to bike - but I'm growing tired of that. On the seat modification: I ski a lot but leave them at my buddies house and I only put them in the car 2-3 times a season. I still ski some long boards, which do fit, but it's just more chance to scratch up the interior. So figured it's worth asking. If there were a fold-down seat kit then that might solve both - although I still don't like loading a muddy bike inside if I can help it. -mg]

Well you could always go to a body shop and have them turn the hood scoop around, unblock it, and then get better airflow through the engine compartment. Also, have you considered getting a rack that mounts on top of your car? I use a Yakima for my snowboard in the winter, and I know Thule makes em for our car as well.

I'm not convinced that air will exit with the scoop turned around. It's at nearly the same point as the ventilation system intake (bottom of windshield)
I do agree that aerodynamically a flat panel is better and it can also be lighter. Here's mine... ![]() Fiberglas sheet cut to the hole size with 1/2 inch nylon spacers and screws/nuts. I'm chasing around WRX's on the track so am losing as much weight as possible. There are trailer hitch bike/ski racks. I've used one for years and now have one on my wife's OBW. Hitch was about $120 online and rack about $100 at a local bike shop. jack |

I may have to drive out to Hopkington for a lesson on building that panel (currently living in Littleton). I hadn't thought of a trailer-hitch rack. If I shop it right then the cost would be about the same as buying a lower spoiler (w/paint,shipping) and using my current rack. Hmmm. Will have to check around on some prices. Jack - was the trailer hitch a bolt-on item? I must admit I still have it in my head to go with a spoiler that has a 'lower' profile - but will fully consider the hitch idea (added bonus - less scratches on the trunk). Thanks, Matt |

Matt,
I bought the bike rack over 10 years ago, so it's pretty much free for me now. I did a search and bought a "hidden hitch" from a company I found online. They had one on line for $139 which was class 2. I asked if they had a class 1 and they did. I think it was $119. I mounted it myself...I think 4 bolts. I also sell the hitch when I sell the car.....anyone need a 98 Blazer class 3 hitch? Let me know if you want to take a look at the panel instal. I work out of the house (for now). jack |

for the hood, you'd be better of getting an L hood, rather than covering up that current hole (if you're thinking in terms of aerodynamics).
As for the fold down seats, I haven't heard of any. I know people tried the Legacy rears, but i don't know if that worked... |
