If you are using an AP for stage two, the map no doubt was made with a Cobb DP. I definitely recommend the Cobb DP; the fitment on my 03 wrx is perfect.

As for the uppipe, I would recommend the grimmspeed coated. Grimmspeed makes such quality products that you cant really go wrong.

If your on a budget, gut your own uppipe and get a cheap ebay downpipe.

A cobb AP map doesn't care what kind of exhaust you run, so long as the backpressure is reduced enough. I.E. Any bellmouth downpipe will work.

With uppipes fitment is more of an issue. Getting a quality one is more important. Grimmspeed makes great uppipes, but so do a lot of people. Do your research. I would recommend one with a flex section personally.

Rally Sport Direct has decent prices, but there are better deals out there. For GS stuff, it usually ends up being cheaper to order from them (at least for gaskets) unless a vendor has a much lower price.

I suggest stalking the vendor forums for a bit, there's some very good vendors available to us (and some not so great ones, do your research!).

don't gut the stock uppipe, been there done that. Takes way too much time to do and you'll end up buying tools you need to make the gutting faster.

not worth it, just buy a nice used uppipe and downpipe.

do some research on different brands....some are much better than others.

I like the invidia uppipes(they come with hardware and gaskets) since there is no flex section to fail(I don't like flex pipes, others like them)

It is more important to get a quality uppipe that fits good than the downpipe. Leaks at the uppipe are much more common.

Get a used STi uppipe. It has no cat, and fits just like the stock downpipe so you do not have to worry about. Plus the differences in airflow between the STi uppipe and an aftermarket are so small that unless your looking for some very serious numbers on the dyno it's not really going to matter. There's a lot more things you can spend the money on to increase HP besides an expensive aftermarket uppipe.
