Default Still a few track day openings at Lime Rock

For those who want to take their car to the track CART still has a couple of openings for the track day on Thursday, June 17. Go to www.cartct.com and click on the track day links to register. They take PayPal.

Lime Rock is great after the paving job, can't believe how smooth they got it.

Unless CART changed the setup these are not HPDE's, there used to be very limitied instruction at their events. CART does a good track day but I would definitely not recommend it to first timers or even those with limited track time.

I'm going to try and attend one later this summer, after a Skip Barber course there. I don' want to get lost.

How many laps per session, usually? I wouldn't think a stock WRX brakes would hold up too long.

If there's anywhere they would do well, LRP is it. Especially if you are running street tires.

I'll be there. It's rained every time I've been to Lime Rock (all 2 of them ) so I'm hoping for a nice day, and no blown clutch.

As for WRX brakes, just get some decent track pads and fluid. You don't need Brembos or any sort of silly BBK.

I agree. There's minimal instruction and you're out there on your own, often running with guys who have more experience. For anyone that's already been there or done a bunch of track days, it's a great event to get a lot of seat time with a relaxed but organized club.

Another question - any special safety equipment required? Do you need a Snell SA helmet, or will the let you run with a Snell M-spec helmet?

If you want additional instruction, you can always ask for it. We've purchased uniform shirts with people's names on them, so you can identify the people in charge. It's not a school, but you can always ask for help. I do, and I need it.

Great day yesterday, I can't believe how smooth the new pavement is, even after a couple of New England winters. Monticello is next. Looking forward to a new track.

It was a great time! First time it hasn't rained at Lime Rock for me. Having run the full 4.1 mile Monticello configuration, it puts both Lime Rock and NJMP Lightning to shame.
