Default 18x8 worth it here?

I'm upgrading to 18s soon, and need some advice. I'm a lowered wagon, .6" drop rear and 1.2" front. Choosing between 18x7.5 (w/ 225/40 tire) vs. 18x8 (w/ 235/40 tire) - both wheels having a +48mm offset. Currently I'm on 17x7.5 +50mm offset and 225/45 tires and no rubbing.

Maybe this is an impossible question to answer with any certainty... but anyone out there with experience w/ wagons (or sedans even) I would love to hear from. Thanks!

Another way of looking at it is this: is it worth getting the extra rubber on 8" wide rims and risking rubbing, or just stick with a bit less rubber on 7.5" wide rims and have less headaches...?
