Default For the TD04 guys: 08 Stg 2 + meth vs 02 Stg 2 + meth

Event: dyno pulls
Location: Danbury CT / Westchester, NY
Ambient Temp: 75 degrees, Humid
Elevation: 0
Weather: humid / mist
Tires: Stock

Car: 2002 wrx / 2008 wrx
Tuner: STi Mikey
Dyno Info: Airboy
Transmission: 5 speeds
Gear: 3rd
Peak HP at RPM: 250/240
Peak Torque at RPM: 315/275
Baseline hp/tq for a stock on same dyno: 175 /180
Target Boost: 21.5 / 23
Target AFR: 11.1
Fuel: 93 + meth
Engine/Power Modifications: Full TBE, Meth, MBC (both)

Figured I'd throw up a quick comparo. Its rare to tune a tdo4 + meth setup. I just happened to have 2 in the same day, one being a 2008 2.5l and a 02 2.0 bugeye.

Both cars ripped for having such simple set ups. For reference, my record holding 12.40 td04 wrx made 258whp on c16.

The 08 ran 21psi peak and 29* of timing, while the 02 ran 23 psi peak and 27* The bugeye has high milage and has lived a very harsh life. I guess nitrous lines were found somewhere in the car so I kept it semi conservo for methanol.

Yeah, 112+ is rediculous. I think in 40 degree weather we may have been able to hit mid 111's absolute tops, but not 112.

I love you too

Thanks guys. We should get these cars to the track in cooler weather. Im banking on 12.40's for the 2.5 and 12.5-12.6 for the 2.0 car.

No, you can pick up much more. Do not forget, this software reads low. On a dynojet, you could probably make 275whp on meth and 285-290 on c16.

James W went [email protected] making 258 on this dyno.

Did you maybe accidentally mix up some of the ordering on your post? Because right now it reads like the 2002 wrx has more torque and power at less boost than the 08. If the ordering is right, my bad.

But regardless those are some really nice numbers.

Yeah, I posted this after a night or two without sleep, haha. The 08 makes a little more peak power, but makes power much sooner. 315wtq is crazy for 21psi on this dyno. On a dynojet, I'd assume 350+ wtq for the tdo4+2.5.

These cars need ewg's, c16, and a dragstrip!!

Nice work Mikey, tunes look really good. I know the road dyno software usually minimizes the fall off up top, but these seem to hang on really nicely, especially the 2.5. Is that legit or is it in the software? How'd they feel up top?

Ugh, I wish I wouldn't have messed with that setup as much as I did. It still had so much left in it.

With you driving them? It's no easy task for someone who hasn't been to the strip. That 08 is probably going to need to be short shifted like a rally car.

I was about to ask how the 2.0 made so much more torque, and then read that you messed up the orders

Sad panda, but overall awesome.

The numbers I listed would be in near ideal cases. A beginner would be lucky to hit 12.8 with those numbers.

As far as the software goes, I believe it to be very acurate for two reasons. I only pull these cars out to 6500 for 1. And the second reason is that a good stg2 wrx will hit 225 and fall to 210 by redline.

I think this goes back to air density and efficiency. In a dyno room, you may have a fan on the car, and its heating up for sure after 5k.

On the road, you have free flowing ambient air. The faster you go, the better the cooling effciency.

I wasnt able to make the power on the dyno that i made on the road. IAT's sore in the higher rpm.

This is just my opinion though.
