Default Need Turbo Help!!!!!!

I am looking to buy a aps sr55. I want to know if anyone is running this turbo or had run it before. Let me tell you what I have. 07 wrx, I have put in 915cc injectors, headers, spt cai, Huge fmic w/2.5" piping(bigger then perrins fmic) turbo xs 4" dp, spt mid and muffler( wanted to keep it quite lol) I did a sti tranny swap, I have a stage 3 clutch and liteflywheel, Im planning on running E85. I want to run a mild tune till I get my block built. Then I plan on puttin down sum serius numbers . But if anyone can please help me. I just want to know if its any good. Likes and Dislikes. I have been doin alot of research on it. I have found that it was good but all of the info is back in 04 and 05. We are now in the 2010's lol. I know now that fp has the new green hta. But I have lost my job and am in search for a good used turbo as I cant afford 1500 for a hta green. But Im not goin to just spend a couple hundy on a cheap a** turbo thats goin to blow up in a few hund miles and possibly blow up my motor. I know aps is a well known brand and is of high quailty. I would like any kind of imput please. Thank you all for your help.

Stock block I assume? Might be pushing your bottom end to the limits with that turbo. If cheap and fun is your goal (w/the stock bottom end) I'd look for a little less flow on the compressor. 18G maybe? Gotta be a used one out there for cheap.

Read this, it'll help: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1218459

Another piece of advice: Don't let a "deal" determine what you buy. Figure out exactly what you want and look for a deal on it.

Default Thnx

Thanks for your help. Yes it is stock at the moment. I will be doin a rod, bearing, piston build later. I hav also read that this turbo has serious problems with boost creep. Im not totally sure on that. I was originaly goin to install a 20g td06. But I have not found one I can afford. What kind of nums would I see on E85 wit a 18g??????? Thanks

I was thinking 18G or 20G, on E85 if you ran it external wastegate it would be a blast. A 20G on E85 would probably be pushing it on your stock motor though, I could be wrong but I seem to remember seeing dynos of 20G's on E85 running between 350 and 400whp depending on the dyno. I don't have any personal experience with either, but I'm sure there's a few threads with the info you're looking for in the proven power forum.

You are doing it wrong. Go read the Turbo FAQ at the top of this forum. You buy a turbo based on WHP, NOT price, quality, vendor, sound, style. You set a goal, then you narrow it to turbos that fit that WHP goal, then you call your tuner and turbo vendor and narrow from there. You DO NOT ask what "nums" you will see as we have no idea as the things that can affect "nums" are incalculable to the human mind. Dynos give facts and even a 450WHP turbo could show 345WHP on the dyno in your area vs. 525 WHP on a dyno in my area.
