Question 02 wrx engine and ecu, 04 wire harness?

I am just about done doing my swap (02 WRX into 02 TS) and had one quick question. Will an 04 WRX bulkhead harness work with my 02 WRX engine and ECU? My main concern is the immobilizer, I have checked the service manuals, and it seems that the 04 and the 02 both use the same plugs and pin layouts (for things like the doors, ABS, fuel pump, ect), so it seems the only real difference is that the 04 has the immobilizer.

Thanks for any input!

I just did a 04 to 06 swap and ran into the immobilizer. OMG what a pain in the ass if you dont have the FOB to turn the security off. anywho... the 02-04 didnt have that. That was brought in with 05 as that is when they went to the immobilizer system. I know they def have it on the 06 and above. You should have an easy swap. Make sure to grab a AP and get pro tuned before you have too much fun. I blew my org motor because I thought basic swaps where fine with a Stage 2 map. Wrong! lol PM me if you have questions.

The 04 harness will have a couple extra's on it but being that you are using an 02 ecu and motor it won't matter.

Default 2002 WRX engine and trans 2004 ECU and main harness

Hello,
This tread came the closest to anwering my question. I have a 2002 mt wrx that needs a new main (dash) harness and ecu. So my question is can i use any year harness and ecu designed for the 2.0l wrx engine. 2002-2005 i think. How much dicing and splicing would be expected if i dont use an 02-03 harness
thank you
