hi all.. i bought my 07 wrx last august with 18k on it and am now just past the 30,000 mile mark.. i was told by glanzmann subaru in philadelphia that it would cost between 500-600 bucks to do the work
is there any place close to south philly that i could take it for less than that? also, if i decide not to do the 30k service and just get the oil changed and do the inspection because they are due as well, will that void my warranty? thanks for any and all advice

IF you're comfortable working on your car, you could just do it yourself. its mostly just changing out all your fluids: rear diff, transmission, engine oils, coolant. wouldn't hurt to do brake fluid (and top off anything else that's low). your service manual should tell you all that's needed to replace/inspect for the 30k interval. doing it myself cost me about $200 for the parts/materials (a little bit more if you don't have all the right tools already) plus a weekend's worth of work (cause i took my time and was also learning). experienced people probably only need a few hrs.
you could try calling some of the local Subaru enthusiast shops in the area for their service pricing. don't know any in the philly area but i'm sure there are some. they might have some better prices than the dealerships. |

as for doing the work myself, I would love to, but I'm not too handy. plus I'm not sure if that would void the remaining warranty on the car |

You might have more luck asking in the Tri State section. More Philly folks there.
