Default Going slow over bumpy roads..making people angry

Sorry about the long winded rant in advance..

Twice within the last week I have reallllly pissed a couple people off for something I thought was normal. There is a road I take into where I live that has a bunch of speed bumps, dips at intersections, and generally road conditions I cant drive fast over.

I drive a 06 sti that sits on tein h-tech springs (make fun, ya ya ya), nothing slammed to the ground but low enough that I wont be charging over bad road conditions. Also have a invidia tbe with an N-1 style muffler that hangs low.

I get tailgated, flipped off and he even tries to pass me on a 2 lane residential street. Finally got off the single lane road and guy driving an E36 BMW 328 tries to pass me (which he couldn't ). I finally shut it down after 3rd gear and he darts ahead of me, cuts me off, and almost hits me on purpose while waving his arms and just going ape s*it the entire time.

Same thing happens yesterday but its some old guy in some honda who is just furious that I am going 25mph which is the speed limit and slowing down for intersections. Just road raging like a maniac.

It's not like I am going diagonal over these things like some civic with cut springs, just slowing down. It's right on the border of a pricey neighborhood and the porche/benz guys do the same thing. Anyone else ever have issues with this or am I just dealing with Southern California pricks who always have someplace to be as fast as possible?

Pretty normal. The one day you decide to speed up will be the one day you get ticketed.

It's not like you are cruising at 25mph on the passing lane in the freeway lol.

Someone was tailgating you? Do a brake test... you didn't see the dog in the road?

Just another point that the majority of people cant drive. I get people flipping me off when I pass them when they are going 40 in a 50 or 55 zone. Sorry but I liek goign the limit or jsut over. If someone is doing what you are doing I have no problem following them. Sounds like you live in an area where people dont respect the other drivers. But in all honesty if your driving over wash board you want to go faster than slower. Speed bumps yeah slow

LOL, ya I was thinking about it. Just weird that I have been driving that same way back to my house for the last 2 years and never had an issue with this.

The best part was the BMW owners face when a car full of 4 people pulls him that hard.

Ya its a lot of people with wayyyy too much money that think they are gods gift to the earth. Trust me I will go the speed limit when I can, just not over this type of surface

I've been passed on a one lane residential street (no passing allowed). It was raining very heavily and I was going about 25MPH in a 25MPH zone coming out of a busy intersection. I had a large cooler in the back seat I was transporting and didn't want it to slide around too much.

The guy beeped a lot, then floored it around me almost hitting two parked cars, probably getting up to about 40MPH. I've never seen anything like it. It was a busy residential street too, not just like out in the middle of no where. I have no idea where he was going so fast and recklessly.

the road's here in my town in italy are the same. It's just all there cross walk's are raise really high it seem's. I slow right down to 10-15mph and the italian's just honk and bitch at me and tailgate. Meanwhile, they drive over them so fast that I've seem them spark on the undercarriage from hitting so hard. Some just don't know how to drive!

Slow down for bumps? Never.

One stretch of road I take to work has speed humps, not bumps - maybe a little bit higher than a speed bump, but much wider so it's not that jarring. I can take them at 35 mph in my Outback on the insanely old stock suspension with no ill effects.

So you're going the speed limit which is fine, but then probably slowing way waaaay down for bumps and dips? Yeah, that would annoy me too. I've been behind people that do this on the aforementioned road - they are afraid that taking the hump at anything over 5 mph will destroy their car.

This part is totaly your fault just let them pass you. I don't see what the big deal is. if you have people riding your ass why not just pull over and let them go by??? Secondly if this becomes a common issue with you having people riding your ass the common factor is YOU.

Easy: Be polite and pull over.

If it was just one person doing this then I'd write it off as just an *******. The fact that a lot of people seem to have a problem with your driving suggests that the fault probably lies with you.

Get a car you can actually drive on the road. No one stuck behind you cares about your modified econobox.

I like how this thread went from "yah bro we hate those tailgaters" to "if you cant drive your car on the road, get a different one"

On a side note I am guilty as well of "reasonably" speeding up to prevent people passing me. The reason for this is they usually do not account for the speed of oncoming vehicles in single lane traffic. In a previous car I let a guy pass me but he re-entered my lane too sharp and damaged my car (oncoming almost took him out). It's situational but yeah you do have a legitimate chance to douche bag people that way.

I DONT HAVE THIS ISSUE IT IS NOT A PROBLEM TO ME BECAUSE I KNOW IF I WANT TO DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT OR SLOWER I WILL MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. NOR DO I SPEED UP TO KEEP SOMONE RIDING MY ASS FROM PASSING ME I SLOW DOWN TO LET THEM DO SO SAFLY. IT IS NOT MY JOB TO ENFORCE THE WAY OTHERS DRIVE. I CAN HAVE MY CAPS LOCK ON TOO!

Why should he? He's legally entitled to drive the speed limit, since it's um... the speed limit. Anyone who rides on your tail for this is a straight up *******.

Pulling over was not really an option since the road is lined with other cars. I will probably just (edit: try to do that next time if possible). FYI the road with the high speed bumps is a neighborhood where children play and also around a school zone. HENCE the speed bumps. I think going to the speed limit or a little under isnt going to be the end of the world.

I would love to watch the reaction of some of you who "charge speed bumps" with your bad ass outbacks that have kids watch someone speed through your neighborhood.

There was a thread on here not too long ago about a guy that put water sprayers on his wing for tailgaters. Might be a mod worth looking in to. You still would get flipped off, but at least you'll be laughing!

There has been only 2 people that have been angry within the last 2+ years driving the same road twice a day.

You care about other people's children... yet don't have a problem doing a 3rd gear run side by side with a BMW on the street?
