Default Exige and STi, just a couple of pix.

Finally got a decent pic of Jared's (balzak) STi, please click for full size, and I hope you all enjoy.

I just love your photography. It's always so sharp and all the colors are so vivid. Quick question though, how long does it take you to edit a pic on average? What are the basic things that you do to them? (beginner in photoshop here).

It depends on the pic. The first pic only took me about 5 minutes, but the second one took about 15. I shoot everything in 5-bracket exposures (1EV apart), and in RAW, so the first thing I do is select the best/clearest exposure.

Once I have the pic selected, I then process the basic parts of the RAW image (recovery, blacks, clarity, etc). I then open the shot into Photoshop, correct the horizon if needbe, and save the file as a tif so I can open/close it multiple times without fear of degrading the image.

I usually do spots next, any and every spot gets removed (bumper holes, bugs, dirt, etc), along with any spectral highlights or hot spots I don't like. Lastly, I stare at the image for a few minutes just trying to see what I missed. Once I host and post it I always see things I would change immediately, but don't change them until later on. In the second pic, for example, I don't like how bright the background is through the front windshield. It wasn't that bright in Photoshop, but it came out that way when hosted.

I never knew that opening and closing the RAW file can degrade the image...def good to know. Your pics always look AMAZING. When you do those really dark shots (not in this thread), are you doing it with the camera settings or in photoshop? Sorry I'm a noob to photography. Any pointers would be appreciated. Here are some recent pics I took.... if you have time to critique my stuff I'd be super stoked!

Stop posting pictures of your car. I want it sooo badly.

That or an Ariel Atom 2 is definitely going to be in my future.

Opening and closing RAW files or editing and saving, editing and saving a RAW file wont degrade the image. Its when you edit and save, edit and save with a JPEG that the quality gets degraded.

Great pics UL!

Looks fantastic!!

How are you uploading this to flickr without losing all the clarity, etc? I can't seem to work it out...everytime I upload a picture, flickr messes it all up...

Kind Regards,
Ryan

It's the processing, though I do a -1 & -2EV usually, so I might start with those instead of a properly exposed photo.

I'm not sure if it's for sale yet, but Jared's getting the M3 itch again, so maybe soon.

I don't do anything special, really, I just save-as (never save-for-web), then upload to Flickr. Some of the clarity you're seeing is due to the Nikon 200/2 I'm sure, it's a peach of a lens .

Thanks again for all the coments, I appreciate every one.
