The Legend of Trade Secret
By David "Oakcliff" Miles

I’ve traveled far and wide and seen innumerable ancient monuments to the gods, great men, wars, and political ideals. Seeing the wonders of the world is like a drug. You spend your days chasing the dragon, always trying to see something new and amazing. I came away from my last excursion to the Orient depressed. Alas! I had built up a tolerance to my drug of choice. No longer could I get the same thrill from my swashbuckling adventures. When I thought all hope was lost, as I stood on the precipice of the great void preparing to hurl myself into oblivion, fate intervened.

One sweltering June afternoon I was stuck from behind by a foul harpy. This unprovoked vehicular sneak attack, a crime unparallel in annals of criminal history, left me reeling. What was I going to do with myself? How am I going to replace my beloved driver side tail light and my ruby red bumper? What if I had to drive to the hellscape of Subaru of Plano? As fate had it, I recalled once being told of a magical paint and body shop hidden by time and shrouded by mystery. My heart beat faster as I remembered the fantastical stories about service managers immediately returning phone calls, quick pain free quotes, and free bottles of water located in the lobby. I become determined in my heart of hearts to locate the lost body shop called TRADE SECRET!

I searched far and wide. I trekked through the ruins of Garland and the untamed wilderness of Farmers Branch. Finally, dehydrated and being chased by ravenous timber wolves, I found the legendary TRADE SECRET. With the wolves on my heels, I crashed through the doors and into a world I could not have dreamed of in my wildest fantasies. Dear readers I beseech you to believe me! The lobby was small and glorious! There were racks stuffed with the latest automotive enthusiast magazines and there as an ornate crystal bowl full of divine chocolate. I was greeted by a radiant angelic being. I asked “be you an angel?” and she replied “NAY! I am the great and powerful the Holy Receptionist of Antioch! Randy will be out to assist you in a few moments!” Disappointed, I slumped into a chair resigned to the agonizing wait I was accustomed to in all car shops. No sooner had I done this, Randy appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Before I could collect my thoughts, I was out the door quote in hand and service appointment scheduled.

I spent the next six days wondering around in a euphoric haze. I had regained the lost spark, I had caught the dragon and my life felt complete. I became closer with my family and started volunteering at a soup kitchen. I even lost some weight. On day 7, I sat nervously by the phone awaiting the call from Sir Randy. I was terrified by the prospect of missing his call and never hearing from him again. The worst of my fears came true, I missed the call arguing with a displeased customer on the phone. I called back and left a voice mail. For the next two minutes I contemplated the least painful way to commit suicide. Then! Miracle of miracles! Randy called me back 2 minutes after my original call and told me in words so poetic that I will not blaspheme them by posing them on the internet, that my car would be ready at 3:30.

I arrived expecting at 3:30 to wait the customary extra hour for my car to be brought forth. To my astonishment, it was ready and parked outside the massive gates guarding the inner sanctum of TRADE SECRET. The new paint was so beautiful, it was like staring into the eyes of a loving God. I inquired with the Holy Receptionist of Antioch as to the vast sum of money they expected for the repair. I was floored when it was revealed to me that they were able to get payment directly from the foul harpy’s insurance. I left with a simple smile and restored faith in humanity.

The end???

Saw some of you all out there today. I am starting Carrollton Motor Club. Didn't want to approach anyone with it at another event but I met a guy that said your group is very active with meets and GTG's. I was going to start a thread on here about the Carrollton club, hopefully TXIC members will attend, everyone welcome no cost.

sure did. here's my set from this morning. I was driving the white wagon and wearing the black World is Flat shirt...i managed to sneak out a bit early. It just seems to get bigger every time...i rolled in at 6:55 and managed to get one of the very last spots over in our area, unfortunately it was along the curb with the veedub crowd. I mean, i like cars just as much as the next guy, but it's getting a little absurd when you have to be there before the sun comes up to get a spot.

And that's why I don't bother anymore, I get to work at 730 every day, I'm not about to deal with that mess at an earlier time.

I like the Lamborghini superleggera binder clip mod the aventador already has. Modding before the paper plates are even off, who says super car owners like things stock?
