I say nay, hate STi want a bes. Just keep it a reg WRX and invest your money not to make it look like somethign that its not but in something that will make it faster and bet a stock sti. :-)

thanks for the advice...But what do you think about putting STi engine parts into a WRX? like air intakes and other parts that would be cheaper/easier to instal myself...???

Subaru Tecnica International is the motorsports division of Fuji Heaby Industries. They make parts for numerous Subaru models. If you want those parts on your WRX then go for it. I see nothing wrong with that at all.
Just because you have a WRX and not the STi trim model doesn't mean you can't put whatever part on your car you want to.

I am with BlackFighter... or just do an aftermarket wing and blank foglight covers. I have an 04 WRX and wish it looked like an STI... but when it comes down to it, its all what you can't see that makes the real difference(engine and suspension)!!!

I'm cool with steeling their engine parts though... I have a vf39, STI TMIC and Pinks, so I would be shooting myself in the foot if I said otherwise!

just becuase people have sti parts on there wrx doesnt mean its a bad thing , like for example an 04 05 wrx with sti front splitters just makes the car flow better . others things like a mid wing or maybe oem diffuser really help the wrx seperate itself from others . to each his own but IMO it doesnt matter its all the same anyway

Putting on STi logos and stickers is lame. But the parts you listed are cool. They actually serve a purpose and are good Subaru parts. In the long run, however, you will be happier spending money on things like tires, brake pads, tune, exhaust, etc.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with putting STi parts on your WRX. Hell, most of the STi range is significantly better than comparable WRX parts and can be considered an upgrade in ways.. dependent on the functionality of the part in question of course. Like has been said STi is a tuning and development department of Fuji and has even produced parts, although few, specifically designed for the WRX and not the STi (one in the catalog that comes to mind is the Genome axle back, although we all know it works on both).

In your case, Sti wing? No problem. Interior? Sure. Trim parts like fog covers? Who cares. Hell, I run STi bbs as they are a stronger, wider, lighter wheel than even the EDM WRX rims I ran before, and a JDM STi interior... which arguably is only as good as the 02-03 in terms of driver/passenger seats, but I like the aesthetics.

The thing I disagree with is advertising another Impreza model as an STi. In other words, putting an STi badge on a WRX if you're not mechanically swapped to be such. Its kind of like putting an M3 badge on a 330 or any similar case. It just doesn't make very much sense.

I agree with plasticfoamman. Alot of parts that you can buy for your WRX that are STI parts can be good upgrades that you can get used for a good price. Fog covers and splitters are cool too, I hope to get fog covers for my wrx one day...but I am definitely not going to put STI logos on my car.

There is no need for you to pretend your car is something its not, it just doesn't make any sense.

But getting parts from it, especially engine and tranny parts is a good, and perhaps an inexpensive way to go.

And those things that are compatible are subpar with aftermarket alternatives almost across the board.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong in putting a sti turbo or the sti TMIC. The OP is talking about looks,
Quote:
i like the look of the STi
so that is why i said nay, but putting eng part and susp parts is a yay. Hans me saying put your money in to parts that make it faster and handle better.

i say go for it, if you like the look of an sti better than a regular wrx then why not? most people here are against spending money on parts that dont do anything other than change the look it seems but being that you asked about it shows me that its not a big deal to you. people forget that even subaru itself made it look a certain way even if it didnt help performance in any way, it just looks cool that way

i do have to agree that you dont put sti badges on it. you can make it look exactly like an sti all you want just dont try to advertise that it is when its not.

parts yes

stickers - not unless you REALLY think you have enough sti parts (vf turbo and 6-speed would be the minimum for me)

no wing either, side skirts and splitters is a much better upgraydd if you ask me.

If you like the STi look I say go for it, it shouldn't matter what other people think. It's your money and your project, enjoy it to your liking. Don't try and mod your car to what others like/want.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about 6 speed itself, not the tranny since that'd be really dumb since it's stronger than the stock 5 speed in wrx's

Umm what? Subaru made it look like a sti by adding a wing, and front spliters b/c they DO help performance.

+1. Ignore what me and others say. Our opinions don't matter much on these type of things. Do whatever YOU want. You like it do it, you hate it then don't do it. Pretty simple. If somebody else doesn't like what you did/doing then that sounds like a personal problem and they can either go kick rocks or pound sand, their choice. As long as you like what you drive, see and pay for that all that matters.

BTW sti wing helps a little bit not much. This is why when you look back the wing can't stay ****ing still. Huge amount of wings out their that perform way better than the sti one. Can't remember where the thread was but even 06/07 with their roof vane caused too much downforce in the rear. Also having a roof vane with no rear wing causes lift so thats a decrease in performane technical.

For the record though I do have stock sti spoiler and it does add performance gains over wingless or wrx wing, but don't go around thinking that because it was on a STI that it was sent from the heavens and is the best thing around.

However front splitter they did a decent job at, again better stuff out there but not bad.

The hardest part of getting and 'STI look' is the Mid Wing, and Rear Fender/Bumper Arch.

IMO, The Arches are what make the Whale tale look good. The arches are easy but the bumper is gonna cost ya.

I do have a special place in my heart for the Sti Wing tho.

thanks for the opinions...your right, its my Opinion that matters
but if im gonna drop some change on my car, i want others to at least appreciate my work....
I'm reallly only considering doing the STI wing (De-Stickered), Shift Knob, Steering Wheel, and POSSIBLY Fog light covers (De-stickered)
**Unless i do engine parts, I wouldnt rock the STi badges**
-Thanks

P.S Didnt want 6 speed because of the constant shifting...Im more of an everyday driver, Not a Racer. Haha. 5spd is good 'nough for me...
