Question STI rear anti sway bar on an 09 2.5i

My friend search hasn't answered all my questions so I'd like hear from some people that have done this install.

I just worked out a Trade with another member and I have the rear sway bar and endlinks on the way. Will I need some other parts to do this?(brackets maybe?) If so where did you get them?

Thanks

The n/a's unfortunately don't come with a rear sway bar or brackets in the 08+'s. you'll need to get the brackets and bolts as well.

check this thread for part numbers http://www.3gwrx.com/forum/index.php?topic=2605.0

just pick them up from the dealership. subarugenuineparts/chaplins should be able to get you the parts for cheap.

Yeah you'll need all the parts. I had it done on my 08 OBS and it's a great upgrade.

I would double check whether STi swaybars fit the others, I've heard the don't
it might apply up to 07 models, best find out before you buy

It fits. I have the 19mm STi RSB. At least it does on my 08.

Does anyone have picture of rear sway bars installed in say an '07 2.5i or comparable model? I've never seen exactly where they sit installed and am curious if they interfere with trunk space at all. (wife needs her trunk space? : /)

^ Sway bars go under the car...I think you're thinking of strut tower bars which mount inside.

another great place for stuff like this is the suspension forum. I know it's a radical idea but if you give it a try I promise you will find loads of better info.

Please, for the love of the next guy being able to find the pics, don't post them here!!!! 99.9% of NASIOC users/members will look in the suspension forum for info about how to install the SWAYBAR!

Not sure if everyone covered everything but I did this add-on from a seller that got me the sway bar, bushings and endlinks

You'll need:
-4 mounting bolts
-2 mounting brackets (clamp stabilizer)
-2 endlink bolts (flange bolts)
-2 endlink nuts (flange nuts)
-moly lube or teflon tape for bushings (optional)

The mounting bolts can be purchased at an autoparts store. I went to autozone for mine 1.15$ for 4 bolts. The other six items can be purchased at the dealership. You might be able to get away with getting the bolts and nuts at a hardware store but I wasnt sure if they had a shank or not and it wasnt that expensive anyways. You'll definitely need the brackets tho.

The moly lube or teflon tape is just to grease up your bushing contacts to keep them from creaking when old. You apply the lube or you can wrap contact points with teflon tape to keep it a little cleaner.

The mounting equipment cost about 17$ all together.

To clarify, because different model-series owners (GD/GG vs GE/GH/GR) asked the same question.

For within the 2002-2007 models, an STI rear swaybar will not fit an RS/I/WRX. (It is not a direct swap - you would need the STI specific rear lateral-links to do so.)

For within the 2008+ models, an STI rear swaybar will fit. As you have read, the "I" models (non-turbo) do not come with one and as such, you will have to purchase the requisite hardware to mount the bar.
