Default p0131 and p0031

so after 2.5 months with the exhaust on the car, it threw these 2 codes...

P0031 Front oxygen (A/F) sensor heater circuit low input
P0131 Front oxygen (A/F) sensor circuit range/performance problem (low input)

I'm pretty sure p0031 (thrown twice) was because I pulled out the front o2 and put in the dummy sensor I have, to inspect the wire extension I did on the sensor when I started up the motor twice (to go to princess auto and to come back from princess auto with a new obd2 reader )

The question is why after 2 months did it decide to throw p0131 all of the sudden. If the sensor were not working properly, you'd figure that it would've thrown the light at the autoslalom school where I was flogging the car to try and make it throw a light. I did about 6 consecutive runs without any time between them, this was 2 weeks ago.

Instead, the light came on after the car sat on an incline for about 5 minutes as I went into the bank and came back out to start it back up (after running for about 15 minutes)

I've done a bit of reading on 0131 and people suggest that it may be a failing sensor, my question is because I've had to extend the wiring by 12" would this effect the reading? Also, because there are 2 black wires, what would happen if I somehow futz it up and crossed these 2 when putting it all back together? Could it possibly take that long for a crossed wire to show up?

Now that I have a code reader I will keep an eye on it. I've also resoldered the connections and reshrinkwrapped them in case if something was loose.

bump.

Re soldered the connections on the front 02 extension, reshrinkwrapped, but I think the sensor is shot, any ideas on how to prevent the car from running rich/fouling the sensor?

EL Header is wrapped, both o2 sensors needed extensions, rear o2 is running the casper electronics extension, front is running homebrew ghetto rig. Intake is completely stock, snorkus is still installed.

code p0131 has returned 3 times of resetting ecu, all within 0-5km.

I've got the P0131 code as well. comes on instantly after reset. i replaced the 02 with an OEM plug, still there. that sucks after $175 02 that apparently wasn't the issue. dammed subaru.

This is for an NA car, since yours is a turbo car, there could be other things wrong.

I replaced front o2 and new wire extension with butt connectors, shrink tube, wire loom and electrical tape. CEL is gone, but not sure for how long. I ran the car for 5 minutes or so from cold, and while pretty damn cool that I can put my hand on the wrapped header, I could feel a pretty wide range of temperatures from the front at the engine vs the back closer to the cat, so my 07 probably doesn't like the placement of the cat.

If the exhaust temps aren't right at the front o2, it could be putting more fuel into the mix, eventually fouling the sensor.

In my research I found that 131 can be associated for some cars when they have an exhaust leak before the front o2 sensor. Long term it causes it to read lean and add more fuel to the mix and eventually foul the sensor.

Other things it could be is that something is wrong with your wiring harness on the engine side, either a short or poor contact in the connectors.

Also remote possibility that you were shipped a brand new dead sensor.
