Default New clutch FAQ

What clutch should I get for my XXX with XXXX doing XXXX with XXX power?

A few things to remember about clutches

First there is this... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=775679

Then take a look at these easy steps.

What are you specifically doing with the car???

1. Drag racing?
2. Road racing?
3. Auto cross?
4. Street only?
5. Street/drag or track?

Once you figure out what kind of driving you are doing with the car the list for your options gets a little bit shorter.

How long is my XXX clutch going to last?

This depends 99% on YOU. Launches, brake boosting, huge power, bad driving, type of driving.

IE a stock clutch will outlast almost any clutch given the right circumstances. But a Carbon/Kevlar super clutch could be worn out quickly with the right or wrong driving styles.

There is no way to tell anybody how long XXX clutch will last you. You will have to wait and see with your driving.

Check with the material, it might be more resistant to abuse.

I just burned out my clutch can I use XXX clutch in my car?

99% of all auto parts websites have compatibility charts with the parts sold there. So if your shopping for a 02 wrx 5mt, you can bet that there will be a chart or drop down with your specific part number. So double check with the vendor, but I doubt that they will sell you the wrong part if they know what model car it is.

Use common sense!
If you have a STI with 1000WHP, how is some goober on Nasioc going to know what clutch you need? Check in the power boards, look at similar setups, RESEARCH! I know its a tough thing to do with the internet. But there is 250,000 people on here. Chances are that some time ago, someone had a similar setup and or goal in mind. Ask them maybe.

Ask an educated question!

If your stumped and don't know what do do when you put motor oil in your tranny, and its making rock crunching noises. Ask away, but remember this is a technical board.

Hope this helps and doesn't piss off anybody. Good luck.
