Hello, I just bought a Perrin rotated uppipe and I have seen the Perrin kit in pics. The turbo sits to hidden and low for my taste. How could I raise the turbo a little bit with the uppipe? Maybe somekind of an adapter plate? Maybe get longer studs for the top of the pipe where the turbo sits and get an exhaust shop to make a spacer for it so the turbo can sit on the spacer making it sit higher? Im up for suggestions, thanks

I haven't seen the kit, but you more than likely could have a steel spacer made for your up-pipe. You'd more than likely have to change the inlet, downpipe, and outlet piping as well.

it sits like that so you get faster spool...i wouldnt change it... just redo the angle and/or intake system to make it a bit cleaner if thats what you're going for...
the turbo on the WRC car actually sits a bit lower and points upward... i wish more companies would mimic this... but good job going rotated! The car will but more faster and easier to work on |

Thanks guys! I really like some of the rotated kits that sit higher and you can actually see the turbo when you open the hood like turbo xs's kit. I need to get a 44mm wastegate and turbo first lol

Ill get pics tomorrow of the uppipe, downpipe and 4 inch inlet. I basically just want to move the turbo up about 2 inches so when I pop the hood, you'll be able to see it way easier

you can add a 2 inch pipe to you up pipe and get it higher. you have to change your dp to fit also. everything else should fit. a good shop should be able to do this for you.

To raise the turbo, you will have to do a lot of modification, raising the turbo will also mess with the alignment of the intake, since it's designed to be a cold air intake, moving the turbo will cause the cold air intake to not line up and go through the hole in the fender. You may have to make a new pipe to connect to the first boost tube coming off the turbo. Theoretically it can be done with machined spacers on the up pipe, but the downpipe will have to be cut and extra length added.

also! I might actually be going to this towing business tomorrow to look at Holset turbos off some older trucks. Does anyone know if they will bolt up to the Perrin pipes and what is the smallest one? Thanks

go for the hy35 if you go for a holset off of an old diesel. they have the small housing, so you will get quicker spool

i don't think that turbo is a 4 bolt. si you would need a new flange on your dp.
why don't you just sell your kit and buy one you like or have one made. i make kits for people all the time because they want things a certain way or want to use a certain turbo. you might be able to break even if you get a good price for everything |

Its always a possibility man. I am new to rotated setups so I found this perrin setup and thought it was the way to go but I found out how low the turbo sits with the perrin uppipe and I was kinda disappointed lol. I just want it to set up like the turboxs or other kits (not so hidden) I dont have a external wastegate uppipe so that is mainly why I bought it. I guess I will buy a t3t4 turbo and wastegate and then worry about how it sets when I get to that dilemma lol

EMSmap... imo this is a waste of money. I know you want the turbo to bling but i would seriously be more concerned with where it sits behind the head for ease of installation and getting a metal intake/piping made
A car with clean/polished intake and fmic piping tends to bling pretty good. If I were you, I would get custom made intercooler piping that fits specifically to your car and run piping specifically sized for your turbo. Fmic kits like APS, turboXS, etc often use piping that is too large... P&L makes a good kit. But ya, get your piping customed and shortened for faster spool and get it polished for bling. The turbo sitting low shouldnt be a concern. Again, this is my opinion based on technical data If you are really stuck on raising it, the pic posted above is a possible fix... remember, you will have another gasket to worry about and more bolts. |

I am actually just going to get an adpater plate to put between the uppipe and the turbo and put longer studs in. I will have 2 T4 gaskets for this. This should work no problem

Want to sell just perrin up and downpipes? I might buy them off you for future projects if you want to sell. Then you could buy txs pipes.

You can't use a spacer like you are describing. The top flange for the turbo sits at an angle. Putting a spacer on it would only get it closer to the strut tower.
Just some food for thought...have you ever asked yourself why TXS is the only kit with a turbo 20ft in the air? |

I was simply hinting that maybe there is a performance reason, like having a shorter up-pipe, or a downpipe without such an extreme bend coming off the turbo.
