2010 STI as in video and video title? Hatzenbach (hatchback?)

Wonder what the 2011 Sedan would do.

It says its a "NŘrburgring Challenge 2010" not that the car is a 2010.

oh snap!

Subaru needs to get their stuff together since they never made a 2010 WRX STI sedan.

Nice. The C&D article has some photos of the car on a lift and its extensive undertray. Nice piece of work that - looks like it would add considerable downforce, but would it ever see the light of day on a production model?.

Looks like it was on RE070s.

Default I wonder if this would have helped...

Noticing that they have WRC Champion Driver Tommi Makinen, two things come to mind that could have helped him get a faster lap time.

#1) If he had a co-driver calling out pace notes
#2) If it was a LHD rather than RHD.

Nonetheless, I think Tommi could have walked the 'Ring faster than I could have driven it myself. VERY impressive drive!

I love the fact that in the article, they asked him to study the 'Ring via a Playstation, but he couldn't (or maybe he didn't want to) because it was the Japanese version of the game! Took Tommi 5 laps to improve his time, as opposed to 50.

LaterZ!
Darren!!

if you read the article from car and driver. it IS the sedan. But this is the prototype. who knows let's all hope it comes with the 6 pots from the spec C.

pretty interesting how they can do this time with only ~320 hp.

this car is a child of a spec C and a r205 mashed together. that would be rather interesting on it's own.

I love it how in the middle of one of the straights, he goes off and plays with either his mic or collar of his racing suit all the meanwhile he's flooring it.

Awesome !!

Some observations.
  • Tommi Mńkinen got a little bit of airtime at "Flugplatz" (flight place). COOL.
  • At 1:35, he misses a gear change. Grabbed 2nd instead of 4th.
  • Not entirely a production car with it's flat bottom and wickerbill rear wing but pretty damn close with all the carpet and sound deadining still in the car.
  • Yes, the low fuel light is on, as it should be for a timed run. I bet they filled it just enough.
  • At 5:12, he hesitates to grab a higher gear as he does at 6:38 at the 2nd carousel. Wise.
  • Suprised to see how loose his belts were.
  • With more front grip he probably would have shaved a further 3-5 seconds. It looked like it almost caught him out on one of the last turns as the fronts looked cooked. Suprising to me is that I don't think he was left foot braking to compensate for the understeer.
  • Fantastic demonstration of how to attack curbing. I think rally drivers know how to "cut" better than any other racing drivers.
...Just what I saw.

Great job Tommi !!!

I love the fact that at about 3:55, while doing around 215Kmh he takes one had off the wheel to adjust his helmet, as he's going through a curve. Mad Skills!!!!

This prototype's got a roll cage in there though? So the street version that u can get from the dealer probably won't be as rigid & lap time might be lower?
