Question Why a Subau is better than a Mitsubishi

Me and My manager were talking about the WRC, and i was trying to convince him that Subarus are the way to go, and he thinks Mitsubishi Evo is the way to go. Some of my Arguing points were:

Subaru = faster 60-0
Mitsubishi = faster car overall but less reliable
Mitsubishi = More expensive parts
Subaru = more luxurious interior
Subaru = cheaper

And my managers arguing points were:

Subaru = glass tranny
Subaru = slower
Mitsubishi = better turbo
Mitsubishi = MUCH faster

Give me some more reasons Subaru is a better car!!!
i wanna slam my manager!

<----- first notice the car

and by the way the two cars seem to cost around the same

well lets see:

Mitsubishi=better looking car
-better 0-60
-handles better
-mods are a hell of a lot easier to do yourself
-more options when you buy

But ill give you:

Subies=better interior
-better daily driver
-women seem to like subies more

This is an argument that has no end, and in reality, is only based on preference. It's all completely subjective. Both cars are capable of some ridiculously good times on the track.

To say one car is better than the other is stupid and asinine. I have always hated Mitsubishi cars, especially working on them and the Evo is at the top of my hate to work on cars list, but I can absolutely respect them for what they can do.

Once you get over the fanboi racer bull****, you'll actually realize it's a rather childish argument.

Oh god, not this again I'd switch to a Mitsubishi and then back to a Subaru then back to a Mitsubishi as many times as I wanted if I had the ability. Why? Because they're basically the same damn car. 4 door, AWD, turbocharged Japanese econobox that makes horsepower around the 300's. It's called being a car enthusiast, not a fanboy.

They're rivals for a reason, because they're so damn similar. It all comes down to stupid technicalities. I just wish this argument would just drop so Subaru idiots and Mitsu idiots can stop mad dogging each other and just appreciate cars in general.

Can't we all just get along? . Yea its pointless to argue which car is better. In reality I liked the Evo before Subies, now I just like both. Each one has its own +/-. If you want a track monster, get an Evo. If you want a swiss army knife, get a Scoob. You gotta find somethin else to one-up ur manger with lol!

I'd take a Lancer Sportback over my 2.5i if I had the option right now, but sadly they introduced that model a year too late for my time to buy.

It's all personal taste, so who really cares. My brother's 97 Galant still drives, but he's had to pump many thousands of dollars into it since he started driving it in 2003. The transmission has died 3 times on him alone.

Looks = Lancer, at least the hatch is more agressive, but sedan Scoob at least for 2011.

1 major thing about Lancer is, no AWD until EVO.

I'm strictly going on the base line models. The Lancer(hatch) base line looks better in 2010 I think, but it doesn't mean it's better.... maybe it's not as reliable, I don't know... I don't own one. I just can't stand FWD.... I'd rather have the Genesis 2.0T than the Lancer though.

i see way more subaru drivers than mitsubishi drivers. thats gotta tell ya something.
the way engine and tranny are set up on an evo just doesn't make sense to me! subaru is laid out so perfect.
mitsubishi looks like an expensive honda! kinda ricy looking

Ok, here's the real reason why a subaru is better than a mitsubishi. My dad can say subaru but cannot say mitsubishi. No matter how hard he tries, he always says "mit-suh-bitsy".

Around here, the depreciation on Mitsubishi's is astonishing. The Subaru is much stronger - like a delta of $5,000 after five years.

...but you are wasting your breath.

I don't get why people insist that Mitsubishi is so much better looking... I honestly think Evo's aren't very attractive. IMO, I believe that Subaru's are a much better call from the get go and in the long run. Everyone I know with a Mitsubishi vehicle, whether it be a Eclipse, Mirage, or Evo they are constantly fixing something. I am not saying Mitsubishi makes crap cars, I'm stating my opinion how to which in my eyes Subaru makes a better car especially for the price. No matter what, there will always be a rival between the 2 AWD machines. The way I look at it, is they are both AWD and nothing is better than that! If your comparing the cars between a EVO and STi, I look at it as they are both AWD turbo. Each has it's perks and it's downs but what car doesn't? (A Subaru haha j/k) It's all a matter of opinion and it doesn't matter what's said, the rival and arguments between the two cars will always be there.

Looks aside, if the Mitsubishi is going to break down more often and has inferior lasting parts, that's enough for me to stay away...and to think how much they want for the V6 Eclipse in insane. It's not even AWD for goodness sake!

I liked the looks of the Lancer GTS over the Subaru 2.5i. The biggest factor that made me choose between the two cars (base models only) was the drivetrain. The GTS is FWD and the 2.5i is AWD.

Yea.... the GTS has that agressive nose....which I have to admit is pretty cool looking, but the lack of AWD in the base model is kinda lame. I hate when most company's including Dodge, slap AWD only on the top of the line models and charge an insane amount for a car that in no way would beat the WRX anyways especially in reliability.

I still see older outbacks (2) in my apartment complex. I have no idea what year they are, but they look OLD.

But to be fair to Mistubishi, this is a Subie forum...not a Mistubishi forum.... of course there are fanbois that will always seem to pick Scoobs over Lancers, but I'm not bias on anything just because we happened to get the Impreza. I've driven much better cars....they just weren't mine. All I can say though, is that after 52k it still rides like new, but Florida roads aren't that bumpy here around west palm beach...that may help. All we have done is get 1 alignment, some oil changes, 1 battery, and tires.

Please...someone tell Subaru to get rid of the horrid Bridgestone RE92A OEM tires. They are comfy.... but they are also nail magnets and can't corner in wet weather even new.
There are so many tire choices that beat those tires it's not even funny, for much, much cheaper. (ExclaimUHP, Falken GR452, ETC, ETC.)

I own a 2009 wrx hatchback.

If the EvoX had a trunk that could fit more than an umbrella, I would be driving an Evo right now.

Other than that- Evo wins in my book.

But you are comparing the EVO X to the WRX not STi. Not exactly fair, but if you are comparing just the agressive looks of the 2010 models, I agree with you.

I have heard however bad things about Evo's reliability vs Subaru. That does come into play in my opinion.

When I was shopping for cars, after test driving both the WRX and the STI, the STI simply didn't seem worth the extra money, so it was immediately scratched off my list...even after my gf at the time (now my wife), offered to pay the difference.

Im pretty sure the EvoX will out-perform the STI as well. To me, the EvoX would have been worth the extra money. Unfortunately, the trunk is tiny and the rear seats don't fold down.

STX for 2013?

Default

Right now, several classes of autocross are being led by Evos. STU for one. STU is pretty much the sti/evo class, but the evo's are defi nately on top, taking the top 4 or 5 spots at nationals.

Seeing a lot in street modified too.

I think people would rather have them be reliable...we all know they outperform the STi.

Extreme performance usually comes at a cost.... look at Ferrari's for example. They usually require you to bring them in for service every so often and it costs an arm and a leg..... although I'm sure if you bought one, money doesn't matter.... but still.

The less I'm taking my car in the better.

Parts for Subaru are more expensive then anything for the EVO... Just look at injectors for one... But I like both cars since I owned a Evo 8

I agree a Subaru is more reliable in the long run than a Mitsubishi. That is why I chose to buy a Subie, not that mines fast or anything... im still young

I guess that is true, as long as you avoid a certain build-date. Otherwise, you're driving a ticking time bomb.
