Default best way to get rid of paint chips on my hood?

ever since i bought the car ive had some minor chips in the front part of the hood that just keep getting bigger and bigger like im constantly driving behind a dump truck or something. i was gonna try to get the touch up paint but do i need primer/sand paper/compound? whats the best way to make it "mesh" with the rest of the hood?

I'd think probably just to re-paint the whole hood.

dent wizard uses a system of touch up paint that they squeegee over the hood. My buddy used to work for them. Not totally sure what the product was and exactly how they did it but I am sure there has to be some info online about the system.
