Default Phase II 2.5 into 98 outback sport?

Hey guys,
my friend just picked up a pristine sohc 2.5 out of an RS and needs to know what he needs to do to make the wiring harness splice into his car. The motor he bought is complete with the wiring harness and ecu.

If it's too much of a headache he is also thinking of just swapping the block (his 2.2 threw a bearing) and wants to know if there are any compatability issues with putting phase I sohc 2.2 heads on the phase II block. Any info is appreciated.

i have put phase 1 heads on a phase 2 block had no problems at all just have to swap the timing covers over. I would say this is the best way to go for you.

The 99 2.5 has no egr and your 98 should so to work around that could be a problem for you.

If you want to have a bolt in 2.5 just get 98 rs 2.5 dohc and ecu.
