It really does matter! You have to use a foam filter cleaner for the foam filters. K&N cleaners can actually damage the filter over time. Try looking at a motorcycle shop, a lot of ATVs and dirt bikes use foam filters too.

Not having much luck with the search function on this one... I installed a red belt/pulley shroud on my 05 WRX a little over a week ago, looking into the engine bay the left side of the shroud (passenger side) the bolt was EASY, the drivers side bolt was a PITA. Since installing, I retorqued both bolts once, and yesterday when I went to check them again the passenger side bolt was tight like a tiger, but the driver side bolt the nut was straight up gone. Luckily the bolt and the spacer were still there (rattling around), but am I the only person who has ever had this happen? That nut could have fallen off and seriously jacked up the belt system had it gotten tossed in there (slim chance I know, BUT). I'm going to head up to Homedepot tonight and find a bolt a tad longer, and a locking nut. Just curious who the tiny handed individual that designed that driver's side bolt length and nut idea is... it was about IMPOSSIBLE for me to get my big mitts under the shroud to get that thing threaded. It took almost 20 minutes some serious hand stretches and more 4 letter words than I remember.... I'm (sarcastically) looking forward to doing it again.

I remember when I installed that bolt, it was pretty tricky. I've had the cover on my car since late summer/fall and haven't lost anything yet! One trick is to put a piece of duct tape on the bottom of a wrench to hold the nut at the bottom, then screw in the bolt there. I hope that helps!

Default Stage 3 Map

I'm currently running the Perrin Stage 2 w/ Perrin Intake 91 octane map that was provided when I bought my intake from you.

Since then I have purchased a Perrin Inlet and a bigger TMIC. I was wondering if there would be any real advantage of ordering a Stage 3 map for my setup?

Thanks.

Hello, I'm sorry, we do not have a stage 3 map for the 08 WRX. We're working on fixing this on the website right now. The stage 2 map that you're running right now will work great with the inlet and bigger TMIC too. Thanks!

I have a Perrin TMIC installed on my 07 STi, will your strut bar clear the bigger intercooler with no problems?

Chris,
In regards to 08-12 wrx/sti, Someone asked this earlier but I didnt see a response, does the Perrin FMIC fit without mods with the Perric CAI? And also, if I were to buy the Perrin CAI, would the Perrin specific intake map come with it? Thanks

Sorry, yes on the 08+ cars, the PERRIN cold air intake is a direct fit with the PERRIN FMIC. I think we even have a picture on the FMIC page with it installed.

You will get a CAI map as long as you purchase the intake and AP from us. Thanks!

Hey i have a 12 STi limited and i was thinking about getting the turboback quad tip exhaust. I was wondering how loud it is. I've watched videos but you cant get a real feel for how loud they are. Since I'm in Afghanistan i cant hear it in person. I had a 06 STi with the Invidia n1 race exhaust. How much quieter is the Quadtip if anyone had herd both of them. I read through a few exhaust threads and couldn't find an answer.

-Thanks.

The sedan exhaust will be a lot quieter than the N1 exhaust from your 06! The sedan exhaust has a resonator and two bigger mufflers at the end to keep the system mellow and liveable.

Hi guys. Just a couple quick exhaust questions. I drive a 2011 n/a hatch and i was just wondering why on the website it's listed as just the axleback part of the 08 wrx cat-back instead of the whole thing. Is it just a matter of not needing more flow on the n/a because there just isn't enough power? Also would the sound be any different having the oem mid-pipe section as opposed to the one in the 08 wrx cat-back?

Tylerd4213, we list just the axleback, because the 3" exhaust would be really loud for that car, also the bolt connection could be different between the catback and downpipe. Doing just the axleback will give the car a nice growl.

Hi, I'm waiting for my stealth black quadtip cbe to be drop shipped from a vendor, it's been close to 3 weeks, has there been a delay in production?

Yes, the black exhausts have been on backordered for a while, sorry! They should be ready very soon though. Check with your vendor for a more specific ETA. Thanks!

Dear Perrin,

I'm looking to buy your sway bar combo kit but would like some feed back from customers that have run both the 22mm and 25mm rear sway bar along with the 25mm front bar. It will be going on a 2011 STi sedan that is a summer daily driver that sees autoX every weekend. I'm looking for feedback. Thanks!

As long as you purchase PERRIN parts directly from PERRIN, I can hook you up with a new map. Thanks!

I recommend the 25mm rear for the 2011 STI, especially if you are planning on autoXing a lot! It'll give you the most neutral handling. Thanks!

I'd like to compliment Perrin's LCA rear bushings & bushing "holder". Luv the stainless steel crush tube with a grease fitting.

Used the Perrin bits to replace my rusted crush tube AND no grease fitting from another aftermarket supplier.

Also have a Perrin up/down pipes and a turbo shield, all nicely made.

Hi,

Just installed the alternator pulley cover in my 09 sti. I seem to hear a strange noise coming from it. It looks pretty clear on all sides and I tightened it pretty tight. Is it just wind through the vents or a bolt vibrating? Any experience or suggestions?

*Edit: The sound has quieted down some. I took the car for a spin, came home and slightly tightened. Can still hear some vibration but its subtle. Can't quite pinpoint it, thought it was air through the vents but doesnt seem to be that.

What does it sound like? Does it only happen at certain RPMs?

Was a weird metallic vibration. Could only be heard when the hood was open. Took a little bit of loosening/adjusting, but it went away. Thanks

I came across the thread linked below showing a Perrin AOS install/review. Do you have any information on a tentative release date, msrp etc?
