Default PERRIN Power Parts Buyer Guide

At PERRIN Performance we care enough about YOU, to put extra effort into our products and services, insuring you get the absolute best part at a great price. Drawing feedback from our past clientele, we continually review and revise our products to make them the best choice available on the market today!

We are extremely proud that most PERRIN Performance products are Made In The USA. While this does create a challenge for cost vs. goods made by our competitors overseas, we strongly believe it is the correct thing to do! Thus supporting the American economy with the use of raw materials and even more importantly labor! Keeping American’s at work is good for ALL aspects of the industry and economy. Help us in supporting the USA and buy PERRIN brand performance parts for your Subaru!

We carry a wide variety of the "bread and butter" parts that make your Subaru perform! Want to make an even larger jump in performance? Then check out our specialty parts such as turbo systems, intercoolers, and Staged Tunings Packages. Read on to see what we have for your Subaru!

Intakes
Wanting to extract more power from your Subaru? Then one of the FIRST engine modifications to choose is a free flowing intake. PERRIN leads the pack on design and performance with our systems for all WRXs and STIs. Our Intake systems are tested to insure proper air/fuel ratios on stock tuned vehicles with no check engine lights or lean mixture issues. Easy to install with simple hand tools makes this a great first addition to your performance path!

Pre-Turbo Exhaust Components
Proper exhaust flow BEFORE the turbo is integral to proper turbo performance. The parts in the path from the engine to the turbo, are very important parts to consider when modifying your Subaru. Specifically the Header and the Up-Pipe on your 2002+ WRX and STI.
After installing the PERRIN Equal Length Header you will instantly notice faster turbo spool, creating a broader torque curve which equals a faster car.
The PERRIN High Flow Up-Pipe smoothes out and improves exhaust flow directly into the turbo, increasing turbo response and adding power. Installing both Equal Length Header and Up-Pipe as a combo, will result in a multiplication of the performance gains.
The Up-Pipe fits all STIs & WRXs 2002-2010. The Equal Length Header fits all 2004-2010 STIs & 2002-2010 WRXs (check our website links below for specific details on your vehicle.)

Post-Turbo Exhaust
Post-Turbo Exhaust parts include the Downpipe and Cat-Back Systems. One of the key modifications if not THE most important to making power on a turbo charged car is getting the exhaust out and away from the turbo. In an ideal situation your would want to have the plumbing get bigger and bigger leading away from the turbo. While ideal, it is not practical due to restrictions of ground clearance and suspension components. By allowing the turbo to spin freely and sooner, reducing turbo lag and increasing power.

The High Flow PERRIN Down Pipe bolts between the turbo and the cat back exhaust. Using 3" smoothly bent 304 Stainless Steel, dramatically increases exhaust flow exiting the turbo then passing through a high flow 200cell per inch metallic substrate catalytic converter, helps keep the environment clean.

Directly behind the Down Pipe is the Cat Back Exhaust system. This final section of exhaust can be seen clearly from the rear of the car under the rear bumper and can make a dramatic visual improvement as well as performance. The Cat Back Exhaust is commonly the first modification many enthusiasts install because it makes several improvements to the vehicle.
1.) Looks cool & shows your friends and enemies that you may have more power than them.
2.) Sounds Cool, see #1 above.
3.) Actually has a big impact on performance, gains of up to 20hp can be seen just by bolting on a Cat back Exhaust.

Check out the links below for more information on your specific application.

Front Mount Intercoolers
The more power you make with a turbo, the more heat you create. The air that comes out of a turbo is hot for a couple reasons. 1.) The part that it flows through is connected to the HOT exhaust. 2.) When air is compressed it heats up (I wont go into details on that, you should have been awake during science class). To counter this the factory has installed a small intercooler on top of the engine. This is a bad place for performance as the factory intercooler will heat soak very fast because of its size and location, and they know it because they installed a scoop to try and cool it. To totally remedy this situation PERRIN Performance designed the best and most comprehensive Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) Kit on the market. The PERRIN FMIC kits come with Cast End Tanks, HUGE Bar and Plate Cores, High Velocity Tubing, T-Bolt Clamps, and MUCH MORE. Not only does this FMIC perform but it flat out looks AWESOME, check out the pictures on our web site or in THIS THREAD on NASIOC. (Read a lot more information on the PERRIN web site)

Rotated Turbo Kits
Do you want BIG POWER with show stopping quality and craftsmanship? Look no further than PERRIN's line of Rotated Turbo Kits! A Rotated Turbo Kit is a full kit that combines a large turbo, 44mm waste gate, special Up-Pipe & Down Pipe with all the hardware and detailed instructions to install a Garrett Ball Bearing Turbo up and to the passenger side where there is room for the larger turbo and adequate space to fit a smooth high flow down pipe with out having to compromise because of the firewall. We have kits that can get you from 300hp on up to 600hp+. I could go on and on here but simply put these kits have AWESOME power potential and GREAT looks that will make your friends jealous and your enemies shiver.

Top Mount Intercooler
The more power you make with a turbo, the more heat you create. The air that comes out of a turbo is hot for a couple reasons. 1.) The part that it flows through is connected to the HOT exhaust. 2.) When air is compressed it heats up (I wont go into details on that, you should have been awake during science class). To counter this the factory has installed a small intercooler on top of the engine. The size of the factory intercooler REALLY HURTS the performance of your WRX, especially in hotter weather. To counter this PERRIN has designed a LARGE Top Mount Intercooler (TMIC) that has the cooling capacity to overcome the normal heat soak situation. Along with more cooling the PERRIN TMIC flows better due to the precision cast end tanks and the high flowing nature of the bar and plate core.

Light Weight Crank Pulley
Does this part REALLY work? We get asked that every day, I say, "just ask the THOUSANDS OF HAPPY CUSTOMERS." The Light Weight Crank Pulley is our number one selling product (units sold). It works because it is simple and makes sense, lighten up the rotating assembly and you increase throttle response, free up horse power and as a by-product reduce lag. The Light Weight Crank Pulley fits all modern Subaru 4 cylinder engines.

Radiator Shroud
Let your radiator look hot while getting cool. The PERRIN PerformanceTM Radiator Shroud caps the top of the radiator for a sleek new look and forces all available airflow through the core. This lowers operating temperature and increases power. Available in silver or black powder coated aluminum. Both feature the PERRIN name laser cut into the metal for that custom hot/cool look. The PERRIN Radiator Shroud fits all 2002-2007 WRXs & STIs.

Oil Catch Cans
PERRIN Performance Oil Catch Cans are designed to do just that, catch oil. Not just any oil, but the nasty blow-by gas and oil from the crank case before it gets routed back into the intake stream (like the factory system does.)

Why is this important? The oily blow-by in the crank case ventilation systems cause nothing but a gooey sticky mess and insures performance problems for your Subaru if left with the factory routing. With every hour the engine operates, it reduces the efficiencies of the turbo and intercooler as it coats them with this oily sludge. It will also make its way to the combustion chambers where it will gum up the valves and leads to a detonation prone situation.
The PERRIN Oil Catch Can will protect you from this headache, keep your performance level where it is and looks great in the engine bay! Read more on our web site. Available in Red, Blue or Black.

Coolant Over Flow Tank
Replace your ugly OEM plastic coolant overflow tank with the PERRIN Coolant Over Flow Tank! The kit includes a powdercoated coolant tank as well as various mounting brackets that allow you to install the tank virtually anywhere. Our new coolant tank holds more coolant than our previous design AND uses your OEM tank cap for a great seal! It adds clearance for aftermarket intercooler piping and a great compliment to kits that don’t include them. Available in powdercoated black to compliment any engine bay. Universally designed to work with nearly all coolant systems.

High Flow Precision Fuel Rails
The PERRIN Performance fuel rail kit is not just a simple replacement part. PERRIN has completely redesigned and redirected the fuel from the supply lines to the injectors, thus solving all fuel distribution problems and insuring even fuel distribution to both banks of cylinders in the boxer engine. As clients continue to increase the HP and Torque, the need for even fuel delivery is even more critical. Failure to address this concern and your expensive motor can quickly require some major attention!

Our newest variant of this rail system is both easier to install and safer than ever before. Further proving our distinction as the industry leader in fuel rail technology for Subaru applications, we now include DOT approved fuel lines and PERRIN Pyroshield! This fire retardant sleeve is placed over the fuel hose to protect the fuel lines from being becoming damaged while subjected to the extreme underhood heat created by turbocharged engines. Plus the Pyroshield keeps that underhood heat from increasing fuel temps. Cooler fuel equals an improvement in horsepower and torque.
Available in both Side Feed and Top Feed Styles. Check out our wesbite for more pictures and details!

How soon before the AccessPort comes out with maps for the 2011. The Stage 1 sounds interesting.

Thanks for asking!

We don't use those valves. The front end would have to be submerged before you would ingest enough water to hydro lock the engine. Road spray isn't going to hurt anything and in some cases help things a bit.

Hope that helps!

Well we are based down here in Portland and FULLY aware of rain concerns! But it just isn't an issue unless you are attempting to drive through flood waters. Look forward to your order coming through soon!

Perrin,

I read a little on the headers for the WRX. The equal length for optimum flow is sweet. What surprised me and what I want clarification on is that fact that it DOES NOT require a retune. Is that correct? I seems that any increase in flow whether its before or after the turbo seems to require a retune on these cars. I am new to the Subaru community so I could be wrong. If you can clarify this I would greatly appreciate it.

Also why I have you, does your TMIC require a retune with leaving everything else stock? Im in OK so heat soak is an issue in the summer.

Thank you for the post. Neither part you asked about, the header and TMIC, need a retune. With that said a skilled tuner will be able to get more out of your car and these parts with a pro tune.

I hope that answers your questions.
