Default Totalled 05 Legacy 2.5i - worth parting out?

silver 05 2.5i was hit in the rear and front.. Insuance company is totalling it, but i can buy it back for $650... all the door panels are good, but the bumpers, trunk, 1/4s, fenders hood are all damaged. bumper beams shot.. radiator shot. axle back shot, maybe more of the exhaust

Otherwise its was a perfectly fine running car. I accidentally hit the remote start and it fired right up..

Would it be worth parting out? I know they arent as popular as the GTs, but the doors, calipers, interior, is all good... Brake pads and rotors were worn badly. Since its newer people may not be needing as many parts as say a 15 year old car.

I know the rims and tires will sell easily.

Wow, who was the genius that installed a remote start that was apparently active even if the car is in gear? And where the hell did the vehicle go when you remote started it that caused everything but the doors to be damaged?!

I would think you would easily get back $650. Doors, entire interior, drivetrain bits, etc etc.

My bad, i should have been more clear.. i bumped the remote start after the accident.. It wasnt what caused the accident. It was an auto too.

Yeah buy it back for 650$, the engine alone and transmsision are worth that.

tires/Rims will sell for 200-400$.

Misc interior and such are also worth money.

And for that, my consultation fee is your head unit + speakers.

I agree, 650 seems very reasonable and easily recouped.

Yeah, as I reread it now, I realized I jumped to the wrong conclusion there.

But anyway, I'll vote again that you should buy it back. I'm stunned you can get it back for only $650!

I would buy it back and part it out. It may take awhile but you'll at LEAST make back your $650.

BTW, was the accident caused by worn brakes, instead??

Missouri has a law I think that if the insurance company totals a car the owner must be given the option to buy it back at the scrap metal value of the car I now have 2 "scrap metal" cars

Nope, the car was parked out front of my house, and someone hit square in the rear end at full speed, and pushed it into the surburban infront of me. I did buy the car back, but its been sittin at my buddys shop for a month now.. The weather has been nice and ive been doing other things...

I will start a part out thread soon. The bumpers, fenders, 1/4s, hood, trunk are screwed.. Mechanicaally from what I can tell just the radiator got a hitch through it, and the axleback / maybe midpipe are done. but everything else looks solid...

HUs been gone, I had an aftermarket one and its already in my 02 wrx...
I have noticed though, that the WRX speakers are sooo sucky compared to the legacy ones with the same HU... I gotta see if they are a direct swap, or maybe ill go aftermarket speakers.
